Hi all: Does anyone know how I would go about finding out who lived at an address probably in the 1930's? I have an old address book of my mother's with several U.K. addresses but only the first initial of the person and last name. She passed away in Nov 2002 and I'm sure these were her aunts and uncles so they would be long gone but would like to try to find their children. Since I can't look in the census how would I go about locating this information? I live in British Columbia so don't have access to the same information that some of you would. Any information much appreciated! Alva |

I would say email the Record office local to the address and explain your situation. Kindly ask if it is possible for a look up on one of the decades electoral roles. |

Thank you Strump (In Sussex). That's a great idea and would be very helpful. The areas are Hale, Blackburn, Bootle Liverpool and Manchester. I'll wait for a response before I get into names and addresses. The house in Hale had an actual name, Walwood. I even have a picture of it. Thanks again for the advice. Alva |

Gypsy Joe - you will need to track down the electoral rolls, which at least will show the names of the resident adults who were registered to vote. Some towns also produced Directories during that period which showed the name of the head of the household. (and possibly other adult's names...can't remember!) |
