Why would we have to import lard? For pastry use Trex or any type of soft marg - I use Tesco - makes melt-in-the-mouth pastry. As for Branstons since I began to make my Colonels Chutney some years ago - friends and relatives only buy Branston as a last resort! Ann |

No problem if the shops do not stock it before xmas, 2 weeks ago someone was selling a £1.29 jar of Branston for £150.00 on ebay, not bad profit. Also as stated lard is not being imported anymore so according to the papers there is a shortage of mince pies, puddings etc. Have not seen that yet our safeways is packed with them. Having said that you try and buy lard anywhere it has become impossible. |

Doesn't anyone like Piccalilli with their cheese as an alternative? I love branston too and coleslaw, ok not all together. I like to change around what I eat on my cheese sandwiches. Pat x |
