Samuel PLIMSOLL, who came up with the idea of a loading line on ships was buried near here at St Martins Church, Cheriton , Kent. Any noteworthies near you?

Air Chief Marshall Pike is buried in our local church yard. It took an act of parliament for him to be buried in the war graves section.

William Barnes vernacular poet buried in Dorchester and I think part of Thomas Hardy is.There is a funny story about his heart being removed from his body before buriel.I think it was the heart that was to be buried locally and the body in London.But I may have it the wrong way round.Any way the dog had it!!! TRUE, Then we have the other Hardy of 'Kiss me Hardy' fame Rose

Lionel LUKIN who was a pioneer in the construction of the unsinkable lifeboat, is buried in St Leonards Churchyard, Hythe, Kent.

James Snooks, highwayman is reputed to be buried on Boxmoor Common close the old A41 in Hemel Hempstead. The grave is on the north side of the railway line underneath a chestnut tree.
