I suppose if they were coming to see what is on my doorstep I would take them to either Cuerden Valley Park or Hoghton Tower. Cuerden Valley is a picturesque piece of countryside with small hills and a river running through it. It has deer, squirrells, badgers and all manor of birds. A beautiful little piece of the countryside nestled in between the M6, M65 and M61.... but you would never know it as they can't be seen or heard, it takes about a hour to take a gentle stroll through it although there are many different footpaths, a small lake and woodlands. Secondly there is Hoghton Tower, sadly and embarrassingly I can't tell you much about it as I have never been so I suppose having visitors would be the perfect opportunity. Going further a field, about a half hours drive up the M6, is the Lake District... it speaks for itself and is magnificent.... as you can guess I am a country girl at heart. Gaynor :-) |

Sounds Great Tony-Can I come. I would take eveyone round my home city of BATH --IT IS A CITY OF ELEGANCE and history. Begin the day in the Abbey.Have Coffee in the famous Pump Room then a tour of the Roman Baths and Georgian city.We would follow that with lunch in The Francis on Queens'Square and then an afternoon at the races In the evening we could take a river cruise and stop of at one of the river side restraunts for dinner or we could watch the sun go down from the top of Beckfords Tower on Lansdown-Rose |

From where i am. Victoria Australia. Up through the Victorian Dandenong Ranges for breakfast. Then down to Healsville Animal Sanctuary to view some of Australias wild life, and hold a Koala, or pat a Kangaroo. Then off to a bush Pub for a real Ozzie Counter lunch. After that a drive through the Country stopping where ever they want to. Then a drive through Warrandyte ( Melbourne first Gold site) stoping for some afternoon scons, Jam and cream ( or Devonshire Tea ) Then for Dinner/Tea into Melbourne City to a first class restaurant and look at the city sites. Ken, we had a great day of swimming and skating at the Doncaster Dome a few years back, but other than that, I've passed through the station on numerous occasions lol |

Ok, Middlesbrough, I'd start with a walk around Stewart Park and a visit to The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, then into town for lunch at the Hogs Head.. A look and ride on the Transporter Bridge, then to the Dorman Museum and Albert Park... There's a lot more in the surrounding area than the town itself, i.e The Moors, coast |

Hi Paul, I'd show them Coventry's 3 spires and two cathedrals and St Mary's Hall. Then I'd take them for lunch in Brown's. Pausing at a few shoe shops along the way. In the afternoon I'd probably show them Kenilworth Castle or the moated Manor House at Baddesley Clinton. In the evening (finance available) I'd take them to Coombe Abbey for a Banquet or maybe to one of the comedy clubs. Gwynne |
