Len of the Chilterns

Len of the Chilterns Report 8 Feb 2005 23:13

I would have resisted parental pressure and not become an accountant. Would have gone into medical research or physics, len

Yes I would have stood up to my mother sooner and also told my dad what life was really like when he was at sea and what a liar she was and a hypocrite. Ann

Mags Report 9 Feb 2005 07:57

Agree with Ann - I don't think I would have waited until I was turned 40 before deciding to throw caution to the wind and do more than agree with my mother just to keep the peace - and you just KNEW that as soon as that phone went down from speaking to you it was ring everyone else with 'Guess what Margaret has just said to me?' - Edited highlights only though - and embellished...just a little!! lol Surely I wasn't the only one to see her for what she was? Other than that - I don't think I would change anything - some highs... some lows but then one small change could have a huge impact on the rest of a person's life - what would I have missed out on if I had done things differently? Magsxx

Kerry Report 9 Feb 2005 09:06

I would of listened to everything my mum said about boyfriends/Friends. I thought she was trying to "ruin2 my life and "spoil" my fun, but if I had listened, I would of saved myself alot of heartache. Mums tend to know best and I`ll be telling my son the same.xx

I would like to have had some kind of lifetime ambition when I was growing up. It wouldn't have mattered whether it was practical or not, it would at least have given me a goal, something to aim for, rather than just allow things to drift, which seems to be what has happened.

I would have eloped with Brad Pitt when he asked me! I will always regret that.

Yes, I'd have had the courage not to let my Mother dictate the career I followed. I wish I'd left home when I first went to work and followed my instincts. I may not have been as well-paid, but I'd have been a damned sight happier. CB >|<

PinkDiana Report 9 Feb 2005 10:41

In all seriousness I have faced some pretty awful things in the last 39 years but I wouldn't change one of them because they have made me the person I am today and I for one like who I am!!

Sue

Sue Report 9 Feb 2005 10:45

Yes very probably :o) But as someone else said - we are what we are because of the things we have and have not done in our lives. Would any of us be better people if 'what if......' was an option? Sue xx
