when were you diognosed? mine was 19th November 2003! but they said i had it a long time before that--at least 12 mths. chris.

I have just been diagnosed with an under active thyriod i can sleep for England but only put on about half a stone , the tiredness i put down to that time of life, im 55, Margaret xxxx

I also have a goitre...small but I can see/feel it. My thyroid is not producing enough T3 or 4...not sure which, so it works overtime to compensate and has caused a goitre. Viv

hiya girls my sister has been on thyoxine (150) for 9 yrs and like i told you can sleep for england.her neck had a lump in it at the begining. and after she had been on the tablets a couple of weeks it went down

Christine - I ended up in hospital - very ill end of November 2003 they also said I had been ill for a long time before. In fact had been complaining to doctors for at least a year before but they said it was the dreaded change!!!

I had overactive thyroid some years ago. You must persist in telling your GP and Consultant Endocrinologist about your lack of sleep. They should be able to help. Hilary

Vera, I had an over active thyroid when i was about 21,but sadly had reverse symptoms,slept for about 4 weeks only waking to take tablets. put ON 2 stone etc etc. took a few years lots of different pills and two lots of radio-active treatment to sort out. then had the cheek to come back as soon as i had my son. that was eight years ago though and i have been all clear for the last five. not much help to you though, sorry, Nicky.x

Thanks Hilary - I have been offered sleeping pills which I dont want to take I just feel that the doctors dont really listen perhaps I need to be more forceful in getting what I want!!

viv, i also have a goitre, and can see/feel it, sides of neck swollen slightly too. chris.
