I've not heard of Rufus but will check him out. As you say, you very very lucky to Jeff B, considering what happened to him. I'm afraid i only really got into after his death after hearing grace on radio for the first time. I was completely blown away by his voice. I answer to your question regarding nick drake, i did see the programme about him and was at that time having my own battle with depression and not sleeping. I was up in the middle of the morning which was usual then and come across the programme and remember thinking how cool he sounded.I've been hooked ever since, but i only ever play him when i'm alone for some reason. Have you read the autobiography released last year by Patrick Humphries, its a realy good read and gives a really good insight into his life at that time.

Hi Darren and all I'm also a big Nick Drake fan, in fact reading this thread has just made me go and put five leaves left on!! did anyone ever watch the bbc documentary on Nick Drake.....brilliant!!! Alot of people think Nick's voice reflects his own battle with depression but I see it as often uplifting and positive..wonderful!!! Sarah

I see we have found more people with musical taste and here i was thinking that it was just me and viv. I would have to say that River Man is my favourite Nick Drake song. Be aware about nick tho, he has a very melancholy, some say depressing sound which was linked to his depression. My wife in particular hates him. But try him out and listen carefully, he had a very unique style of guitar play coupled with a distinctive haunting voice.

Hi Viv, I always think it's best to begin at the beginning - his first album was Five Leaves Left. But if you want an overview of his work try Nick Drake - A Treasury. RIP Nick, Gwynne
