Maybe its just me, im feeling kind of emotional today...but time after time on these boards i hear people comment about teenagers being this and that. Can i just say again, i know i shouldnt let it bother me but i have to be honest and open...it does! I am not grumpy, inconsiderate and all the other things which were associated with being a teen. I am sure that the second i were to rip into an older generation i would get shot down for it...please do not tar us all with the same brush. My mum has brought me up very well, i know how to behave and not once i have i ever had these kind of tantrums etc that some teens seem to think they can get away with. Im really not trying to cause trouble, but as i said im feeling kind of concerned that as you all know i am 19 i hope you dont think of me this way. Thanks Steph x |

I undertand and agree with what your saying. I was brought up in the Army, and if I ever dared to question/backchat an adult there would be trouble. I`m 20 and hope my own son will follow my example along with beanie xxx |

Steph You are lovely and so are my teenagers. For me it's just a bit of fun as I am truly blessed in my children. We were all teenagers once and it probably does us all good to remember what a horrible time it can be for parents and teenagers alike! Daisy |

Aaaaaawwwww Steedy, don't take it to heart! I presume you're talking about the A-Z of teenagers. Personally I am just speaking from experience of my own daughter - she's 16 - and the moods they have at that age. She's not all bad and I hope I have done a good job of bringing her up too. I always get compliments from others anyway so I can't have gone far wrong. I think the thread is meant as a bit of a laugh for those of us who have teenagers. I certainly don't think they are all bad - some of my daughters friends are lovely Jeanette x |

Steph, we don't think of you that way. Bear in mind we have all been (and many of us still are) Teenagers, even if our bodies suggest we may not be. Unfortunately the few who cause the trouble are so much 'In your face' that it has received a bad rep. I am sure nobody means to condemn all the apples in the barrel just because 1 or 2 are rotten. |

Hi Steph, I love teenagers, that's why I choose to work with them. They are lively, opinionated and sometimes very loud but always full of hope for the future. There are as many nasty older people as nasty teenagers. My generation came in for the same criticism. Ignore the grumpy old men and women. Kidz rool OK Gwynne |

You're LOVELY!!! My brother is about to turn 16 and he is a credit to my parents and himself. He is polite, sensitive, independent and so wise for such a young person! Yes there are troublesome teenagers out there but (am going to be controversial here) I think those causing the most trouble are the twentysomethings who go out on the weekends, get paraletic, vomit everywhere, damage property and then pass out in the street! Hi Steedie! Teenagers are no different from adults really - Adults can be moody, unreasonable, unsociable, cantankerous, nasty individuals that lie, cheat, get stroppy, fight, get drunk and misbehave - BUT they don't ALL do it! And neither are teenagers all the same - it just can seem that way when you are living with some of them! LOL I have been very lucky with mine and miss them dreadfully now that they have left home. We always had a house full of their friends - who quite honestly - if I had seen them coming towards me in a gang and not known them - I would have crossed the road to avoid them! What matters is to realise that every generation despairs of and moans about the next! LOL - It's a sad fact of life but very true - You wait - In 20 years time you will know exactly what I mean! LOL Don't take these things to heart! Love Auntie Mags xxxx |

Steedie - you are so right! I would never dream of 'slagging off' teenagers. I went on a course last year where most of the participants were gap-year students, and they were the loveliest bunch of people. I have to say that on the (rare) occasions I have seen someone being rude, pushing in a queue etc., they have been of the older generation! |

Steedie Its tradition for 'Oldies' to moan about young people. Im 38 now, and when I was a teenager, 'Oldies' were moaning about my generation. (alough I amongst many was always polite and considerate) Im sure when my parents were teenagers in the fifties, 'Oldies' were moaning about the youth of the day. When you get older, no doubt some of your generation will become the 'oldies' that moan about teenagers. Be proud of who you are, do your best and dont consider yourself to be bad because you are a teenager. Elaine x |
