As an educator 'hmmm' I pride myself on being both objective and patient. Today I don't like myself or the 8th grade kids I teach very much. For the first time in almost twenty years I actually lost my temper with a student. He had thrown his chair at me, used every abusive comment he knows in English directly at me, and I think my patience has worn just a little too thin. I am of the opinion thatn a teacher who SHOUTS doesn't know what else to do... I pride myself on knowing my kids, their needs, and objectives, but I dont know the person who left my classroom today, what I do know is I don't want to be her tomorrow... I have just got in from work 21:57 Istanbul time and had to let off steam somewhere.... A very disillusioned ... Magi |

I'm in a complete state of shock! I've been Head of Languages for 9 years and never ever reacted to a kid the way I reacted today. I think I'm gonna get smashed ( in crystal glasses of course) and take tomorrow as it comes. Love ya B:C Magi |

Magi, hope you are getting plenty of support from the head teacher and governors. You did well just to shout instead of retaliating - I couldn't be so restrained! Hope the child concerned will be made to see sense and come back to apologise to you. Have a large one you deserve it!! Maz. XX |

I think teachers like you deserve gold medals my sons daughter is a teacher she now teaches special needs children because she said when she walks in the classroom she know what to expect but when she was in mainstream she said she never new what sort of day she was going to have and what sort of reaction from the parents. She loves every minute of her day now I think it takes a special sort of person to teach and you are one of them. Debs. |

I know I'm gonna go back in tomorrow, pretend it never happened, and confuse this spolt brat more than he already is. You guys are wonderful! Magi (typings not bad considering eh?) |
