Well handled. I am usually very reserved, but occasionally usually on behalf of a third person I get mad. My manager has named me and a fellow female work colleague Ronnie and Reggie, becuase of our ability to cut people who need it down to size. Rebecca

I often feel invisible when I'm out ,and I am a BIG woman in a big wheel chair. Today we were in Asda and son was reaching for something on a high shelf when a woman pushed her trolley into me(plenty of room for her) I turned and smiled and said, sorry! son then asked me why I was apologising to someone well able to move 2 inches(words to that effect) She didnt even look at us! I have that all the time, although i have to say, most people are nice. Deanna

Your reaction BC was great. You sound like my mum who was a very tiny but very strong woman. Deanna

Hi Deanna. Well, I'm not tiny but the older I get the stroppier I get. Once upon a time I would have gone quietly, but now, NEVER!!! lol xx BC Your son was quite right.

Tell me about it BUTTERCUP. When I first got married, they used to keep all the rotten fruit and veg for me, I swear. I could see them put it in the bag, and I would say nothing. My mum used to go mad at me but she went to change it all. They soon learnt not to mess with Deanna, cos' her mum wouldbe down!lol Now that I'm older, I can be very stroppy if insulted. But I have to say, the confidence is not too great when you are in a wheel chair. Deanna ;-0))

I always try to speak to anyone in a wheelchair direct, instead of ignoring him/her and just talking to their companion, it must be so hard to be treated as invisible just because your body isn't working properly. Deanna - don't let folks put you down. Love Dilys x

Who said that???? Actually that's the most annoying thing in the world, in a shop, a pub... I also hate it when you're in a group having a conversation and someone just pushes in and starts talking over you....!!!! grrrrrrrr

Hi I think one of the best ones is to say 'Beg your pardon 'and when they say I didn't say anything you say 'Oh sorry I thought I heard you say 'Hello can I help you' Isn't that what you are paid to say, and if they are still too thick to be embarassed I just say can I see your boss please this usually gets some service , or tell them please can I have your names as I'm a mystery shopper and I need to know whose names need to go in my report here, Lara xx

A great approach Lara, just remember to be careful when complaining in Take-aways/restaurants. I never accept food AFTER complaining as staff could contaminate your meal!

Good for you Buttercup! I couldn't do that because I'm so shy and would feel embarrassed...What I find really annoying is when I'm in a really crowded supermarket and people stop in the middle of the aisle to chat so I can't get through! grrr lol :-) Lucia

Our local shop is terrible for being rude, my husband goes in for the paper in the morning on his way to work and he says they are so busy talking that he knows more about their private life than he knows about ours. As i used to work in this shop before it was sold it really infuriates me as they dont speak to the customer, tell them the total and count the change out.I used to just accept it untill i did the job now I tell the they are rude and that there attitude stinks, if i had a chose i'd go somewhere else. Don't stand for it anymore, tell them otherwise they won't get any better Jan

I very rarely use my local shop beacause the young lad who works there is ALWAYS on his mobile and practicaly chucks the change at you.

I agree with all the comments passed here regarding rude sales staff but recently I saw the reverse. A sales person was helping a customer with a purchase when the customers phone rang. The customer carried on a conversation ignoring the assistant who eventually went to help someone else. By the time she had finished her little chat all the assistants were busy and none were available to help immediately. She then had the nerve to complain about the rudeness and incompetence of the sales staff!

I've not found much of a problem with shop staff, but what really gets my goat is writing a letter to a company, local Council, shop, service provider, etc, asking a specific question, then receiving a pre-printed form letter as a 'reply' - or not getting a reply at all. I also find it annoying when family history contacts don't bother to reply or send replies that bear no relation to my question. In my experience, that happens quite often. CB >|<

I find reminding them that they are SHOP ASSISTANTS and not Brain Surgeons usually gets them thinking!! Pink xx
