Hang on in there- you CAN do it. Wanting to is at least half the battle. Thirty years ago as a divorced, working mother my smoking had reached 30-40 per day following the breakdown of my marriage. Reality dawned when I realised that to pay my rent something had to go, so I stopped. It wasn't easy, horrible side effects including a cough as the nicotine came out of the throat lining etc! Need I say more! At the worst times I smoked tiny cigars that you couldn't inhale! I got over the need within a few months and haven't touched one since. There are some wonderful smells out there -big revelation! If I can do it anyone can! Very best of luck - Pat

I wish you Good Luck also Peter. I am still a smoker and desparatley want to give up. But keep on finding excuses. I did go 8 months without one two years ago. They say the more times you try, the more likely you are to succeed. I used the Patches, but found the Micro Tabs really good, when you get that really bad craving. Much better than the Lozengers or Gum. I have a supply of both Patches and Microtabs and will try to join you very soon. Is it this Wednesday the official No Smoking Day? Jenny.

Peter, Good luck to you and your wife. I quit 5 years ago after smoking for 46 years. It's hard but after 3 days it does begin to get a bit easier. Hang on in there. It will be worth it. Jean x.

Good on yer Peter! My dad had to quit 2 years ago for health reasons after smoking for 50 years and much of it 40 a day. Just think of the money you will save, the health benefits and how much nicer you will smell!!! I only say that because my husband smokes and the smell is awful. Good luck Diane
