my mum and dad have a pond in their garden and there must have been around 25 frogs in there this year. Some of them have started to leave now and theres loads of frog spawn, the grandkids think its great they keep watch on the pond from the minute the frogs first appear to the time they watch the little froglets jumping around the lawn. Its a good talking point , everyone who comes to visit has to have a look and see what stage there at . lol. Deb X |

Brian, It's amazing what my husband tells me whilst I'm on here. He's a biology teacher with a brain that retains everything, I wish he'd go on Who wants to be a millionaire?' He's just told me that aparently there was a famous Italian scientist who dressed frogs in waterproof breeches to prove that it was sperm that fertilised the eggs. Isn't that wacky? Louise |

Frog joke. Grandson says to grandad ' grandad can you make a noise like a frog?' Grandad ' why is that Billy?' Billy ' because mummy says when you croak we can all go to Disneyland'. Well I tried!! Louise |

The male frog hangs on to the female frog to stop rival males getting to her. Sometimes there are so many males trying to hang on to the mama frog that she drowns. The frog hangs on until the female releases the eggs which is when he does his bit. Every other male frog croaks at the male frog as it passes and if the rival has a deeper croak the frog that is hanging on relinquishes his position fearing harm from the possibly 'bigger' frog. It pays to have a deep voice. Amazing what you can gleen from watching programmes about frog sex. Louise |

What you have to do Brian is,when it gets dark, about 11o`clock would be fine, light a sweet smelling candle, place it on the edge of the pond, and sit by the pond, deckchair would be fine, play a copy of Handels Water Music on a tape player, and eat a plate of raw onion sandwiches, with a glass of Chardonnay to wash them down. Hope this helps, try it. Baz LOL |

Do not panic. Frogs are cold blooded and need warmth to get going. We have just had a cold spell and they are only just stating to get the get up and go. Give u'm a week and they will do there thing. |

on the main road near to where I live there is a sign 'Beware Toads Crossing' and they have plastic barriers on the hgih side of the road in order to catch the toads, then they are manhandled across the road to the spawing grounds. brenda |

You can have some of my frogs!! They have been 'at it' for days now and the frog spawn is taking over the pond!! I have at least 5 pairs. The children at work asked if they could come and see my pond and frogs. I said I would take photos to show them. I took some nice ones especially of a really big frog. My 15 year old daughter was horrified that I was going to show 'that' picture. When I looked closely, I counted the legs. Whoops! Sex education for 3 year olds I can't do! Jacky :-) off to have a chat with the frogs. |

Brian You will have to do what Ali Suggested. Bring them indoors, make them comfortable, turn the lights down low, smoochy music and then await results! Keith |
