Hi Neeta Glad the worst is over for you. I've had the flashing lights for years but never followed by a headache - until recently. Like Mandy, mine seems to be associated with the time of the month. I've had a headache and pain in my left eye since yesterday teatime and the paracetamols aren't working. Must try some of these suggestions Jeanette x

David Report 24 May 2005 21:53

I gat the problem with eyes, blank spots, or patches of movement like reflections from water. Very rarely get much pain. Once was driving along M25 when I reaalised I couldn't read the writing on a lorry in front of me. Letters were about 2 ft. tall, or more. A couple of days ago I got a blank spot slightly to the right of centre. Cars coming towards me suddenly disappeared from my vision, then appeared again. Dr prescribed Paramax, which seems to work. Years ago I used to get terrific headaches, or eye aches similar to what people desribe as Migraine, An intense, dull pain, needed to go into a dark room and felt like hitting anyone who spoke to me, but doctors always said it was sinisitis. Best thing for that was Mucron. David

I am a migraine sufferer but find that taking painkillers etc actually aggravate it. I know when it is coming as I get a pulling feeling behind one of my eyes then I need to lie down in a balckened room< nif not available with something over my eyes to make it black, then I am sick then I sleep for a few hours then I start to feel better. I know that stress can bring it on and lack of eating too. As I have now learned to control my stress levels more the migraines are infrequent. At one time I was having then 2 or 3 times a month. By the way I also think it can be hereditry in the female line in my case as my mum, sister and grandmother have al been sufferers in the past. Hope you are feeling a little better now Neeta. Jayne

Neeta Could this not have been brought on by the few drinks you and Buttercup had last night ? I think you are as bad as me need to take more water with it, But joking apart I take Iprobrophin (spelt that wrong ) not good when I used to work in Chemist but at least you can still have drink with them long as you are nor allergic to asprin

Have you tried 'TIGER BALM'-you can get in Boots or the Body Shop used to have it. or Health Food Shop. You rub it on your temples and it becomes hot. Ros

Neeta, if you really can't find out what is causing your migraines try keeping a food diary. I've more or less pinned mine down to mainly monosodium glutamate which can be in anything from chinese food to some soups, flavoured crisps and even gravy! I have also to be careful with the sweetener aspartame. I found this out by chance reading a magazine article. Worth a try if you really can't find out what's causing them. Good Luck Maggy

Lol, just read the reply from Annie about sniffing the green apple! Sounds strange, but I will try it next time I get a migraine! Maggy

Chris Ho :) Report 25 May 2005 07:31

Morning Neeta, hoping you feel better today, another sufferer here, usually 2 or 3 days, have been known to have 5, always starts on the left, and then moves to the right side, and that side is the worst, nothing seems to get rid of mine, it has to take it's course, i've been having these now since June' 95. The warning is noises are louder, and any smell or scent is stronger, but the funniest thing is my nose!, it goes stone cold! :))
