Hi, I was 13 when I got my first 'steady' that I took home to meet the family. It lasted 3 months which I think is quite an achievement considering it was several years later that I found another one I considered worth keeping longer than a month. Gwynne

I was 5, he had a twin sister and she was my friend, then I got friendly with him too (at Infant School) We would talk about how we would get married and live in a cottage with roses round the door. Then his parents took the family to Australia and I never saw him again. Never wrote - I don't think I could write then anyway. So ... Dennis Larkins and sister Kathleen, where are you now? My first grown up boyfriend was a very smooth chap with a motor bike (which I wouldn't ride on). I was just 16 and he was a bit older. He was in a local band and his family owned a garage and car sales place. I finished with him when he came to see me at Hemsby (20 miles from Norwich) where we were on holiday. There were a crowd from my school camping nearby and I fancied one of the boys from there, so I finished with John. He went and cried on my mum's shoulder. He is still around and his family still own a garage I think.

11 - he took me home after school to meet his mum. It never entered my head that my mum would be worried. When I got home 2 hours late she had called the police :))

17. I was a late developer and went to an all-girls school. I had a younger brother, so his friends were too young for me, and I thought the boys at the boys school were nerdy. First boyfriend was called Alan and he chatted me up at the bus stop. We went out for about a month and then I decided that no boyfriend was better than a drippy boyfriend who had stood me up on two occasions. Then I had an unrequited passion for a man called Dave at college, who was a bit older than me. I can still recall how I literally felt weak at the knees when i first saw him. Then I had an intense relationship (mainly by letter) with a post-grad student I met when we were both doing temporary work in the summer holds. Finally I met my husband-to-be. What a relief! nell
