Am glad most people seem to agree, I was just getting a little annoyed at the adverse comments about 'what goes on in MSN' I noticed that a couple of people said they were now put off from using it. Maz, the ability to block people has always been included in MSN, certainly for the last few years. I've blocked (and deleted) several people. Some because they were never online anymore, some because I found we didn't get on.

Hi Paul, MSN was a lifeline for me when I broke my leg 2 years ago and most of my contacts are still the Youth theatre kids who installed it for me and entertained me while I was helpless. I still talk to them on there a lot. I have a list of GR contacts there. We all added each other one afternoon when lots of people were on but I don't speak to many of them - not that I avoid them, in case people think that. I'm a bit wary because I don't 'know' many of them - it's not that I don't trust them I just don't want to seem pushy. MSN isn't evil but its use can be, as has been pointed out so graphically. I wouldnt be without MSN as its my lifeline to my sister in canada ,We 'talk' every Sunday evening, time diff allowd, & I sometimes 'talk' to a rellie in Australia whos grt grandad in Law was my Nans brother. Also talk to family here on it & it does keep the family in touch. So its not MSN that has any probs its maybe the people using it sometimes!!! Shirley

I heard that Saddam Hussein had been using messenger. Disgraceful tool that it is. Absolutely terrible.

You are right I use Microsoft Messenger...without it I couldn't talk to my daughters so freely and as I live 9 hours from them (flying time) I need to be in contact as much as possible. It is a lifeline as I thought this site was but...... Jacquie xx

I use MSN messenger to speak to family and work colleagues, its great fun and I only allow people I know really well in my contacts list. Plus its cheaper and faster than texting and saves me phone bill!!! Also use it for the GB relay. So like anything its the people who use it that abuse it not the site itself. Beve

I agree Paul to a lot of people msn is a lifeline and it should not be described as evil it is a very valuable tool on the internet if not misused!.It is also great fun. Dave

Agreed Paul - to think that without your help on msn - I might have to ask on here and people would KNOW how thick I am when it comes to computers! LOL Joking aside - what you say is very true - it's not msn that is evil. Rather like computers are only as good as the people that input data.....nuff said?? Magsxx

Paul, You are so right.. Its not MSN thats the problem, its some of the people who use it that give it a bad name!! I think its great for talking with my friends and family in the UK without running up a huge phone bill... Debs x

Sorry if my thread had caused some confusion. As has been stated before msn can be a useful tool if used responsibly.

Paul I second your comments.. The good thing with the new MSN is that you can block people that you dont want as your contacts anymore, which is what I have done MSN is brilliant, fun and a life line for some, so I agree dont slag it off Maz x

Please can we stop this demonisation of MSN messenger and the people that use it. Yes, there's a certain amount of gossipping goes on, but that happens via emails on and off the site too. MSN is just a tool, and many of us find it invaluable, there are certain things for instance, that I would not dream of discussing on the site, but have gained a lot of comfort through confiding with my friends on MSN. MSN messenger is not EVIL !!!
