I had a mollucan cockatoo that had been bought inHarrod's pet hall by an alcoholic millionaire because it looked pretty. He soon got fed up with it,gave it to some friends who didn't really want it.They kept it in their shop where children teased it and it was covered up from Saturday night until Monday morning. They did try to give it to a zoo that didn't want it. We had eight years of the lovely boy in which time he turned from frightened disturbed constantly squawking hell bird to Mr Cuddly playful. Then, wouldn't you know it,he succumbed to cancer. He was nursed and cared for like a child when he was ill, with a vet who could not have been more concerned.I think that was the best we could do for him but it could never make up for what he had suffered. |

I do hope your poor bunny gets better. I have four rabbits and lots of other animals at the moment. I went to a party the other night and in the garden was a rabbit that had no drink and was in a really small hutch and the owner said she was going to get rid of it and I cant stop thinking about this poor rabbit. Then to top it of this morning a friend said there was a kitten looking for a home. We really have no room at home at the moment to give a home to theses animals but i find it hard to say no. Good luck with your bunny Rhonda |

I think that when someone gets a 'pet' there really ought to be more stringent laws allowing it. It should be nearly as tight as applying for adoption. Im sick to my stomach of seeing and hearing of animals being treated badly. |

true! i have over thirty 'said animals' in my care at the moment... such a shame! and don't people get outraged at the cruelty that goes on over seas... forgetting it's here on their doorsteps too! Oh, and one for you wendy... i reported a poor horse to rspca last night looks like it's too late but we can pray.. i have spoken to the owners and was met with abuse so the rspca were called, will be back tonight to check it though....how long would i get for 'borrowing' a horse?? xx |

So many people buy a cutesy furry pet thinking it will be 'nice for the kids' and don't realise the true cost of keeping ANY animal and the amount of vet trips they need just for check ups etc. |

I rescued a bunny a few months ago, his front teeth were growing round his tongue and he couldn't eat or drink.. he had them removed but the vet 'accidently' broke his lower jaw in the op.. then it got infected and he lost a chunk of bone as the infection got in.. they said that was 'it' but i never give up... he recovered and was due the all clear when i discovered a huge mouth abcess... he has nothing left that can help him now. he is a really happy bunny though and i'm continueing to drain the infection as long as i can until he starts to suffer... then i will send him to heaven..... i'm so sad for him, all this because bloody stupid people get pets and don't look after them! xxx (off for a blub now!)*i have tried to keep the drainage going but today the other side is infected.. it's time to let him go, i will let him play for as long as he can(maybee a couple of days) and them lay him to rest..god bless my big brave bunny. x I am so peed off right now!! i have contacted the cavy people who have put me in touch with someone else who has just told me that my vet should have given him medication and that the wound shouldn't have been closed, and they could have controlled it.. am going to ring the new vets and see if there's anything left to try, then i will ring my old vets and tell them off (putting it very mildly!) |
