My worst 'lock out' was when I was cutting the grass and the doors blew shut, while I was in the garden. This was me using an old hand mower so no window open for electric wire. I was wearing an old track suit, baggy at the knees and grass stained and my neighbour drove me the 16 miles to where my husband was working so that I could get his key. The chap at the security gate was quite happy to hand me the key as he said he recognised me..... I hope not!

Hubby and I managed to do this years ago when we went out to a Ball at returned at 5am to find the house like Fort Knox. My parents were babysitting and had shut every window in the house. We didn't want to wake them (and especially not the kids) so Chris managed to prise open the top kitchen window and then told me to climb through it. I refused as I had my ballgown on and absolutely nothing underneath (it was very close fitting)! So my hero stripped down to his underpants (green silk boxers) and started to climb through but got stuck on the prongs where the window catch fits and couldn't go forward or back!! He was floundering on the prongs doing a sort of swimming motion in mid air and knocked all the pots off the windowsill. Suddenly we heard my mum shouting 'I've called the police and I'm armed' as she appeared in the kitchen brandishing a broom rapidly followed by my Dad (ex policeman) and two sleepy and totally terrified toddlers! As we'd taken our camera to the Ball I was extremely helpful and took a photo of my beloved, for which I have never been forgiven. We managed between us to get him back out of the window and he still has the scars from the prongs in the top of his thighs. Happy memories! lol Daisy

Many times but have always left a set of spare keys with a trusted friend and now my daughter. I would not have been a pretty site either clambering through a window with all and sundry blowing in the wind!! Anne :)))

my daughter locked me out when she was 2yrs old.i was putting my then baby in the car when eldest one shut the door and just wouldn't open it again.in the end i had to call the police and this huge policeman came round to try to get her to open the door, she wouldn't and he eventually had to get in throught our tiolet window--still don't know how he fitted--best of all though was that at the time she loved pigs and every time the policeman looked through the letterbox to talk to her she kept shouting out 'pigs, pigs, pigs'. still brings a smile to my face now :-)))

this used to be my favorite trick.... even did it once when i was 8 months pregnant and had to try and hoist myself over a 6ft gate to get into the back garden!... not a pretty sight!. Then we moved and found i now have a front door that cannot self lock when shut! yippee! lol.

I have just seen my neighbour across the road from me crawling through her little upstairs side window, LOL.... She has obviously locked herself out. I shouldn't laugh but it did look funny seening her legs hanging out the little window as she was pulling herself through; I wish I had a camara! It has reminded me of the time I locked myself out of my house (not this one but where I lived before) I had came back from shopping and realized I had left my house keys in my other coat pocket. I had to call out the fire brigade, it was so embarrassing!......Margaret......Have any of you stories to tell like that?
