Sue could the rodents not swim in your area then! Where I lived every rat, mouse, even squirrel had to take there 25 metre swimming badge, and when they passed they were learnt life saving where they had to wear their rodent pyjama's and dive to the bottom of the swimming baths and rescue a lego building brick. They were also taught to life save a brown rat.In Manchester every rodent could swim very early in their life and it was a great success.
