Why has my sleep pattern changed so much? I have been awake since 10am yesterday and I am not the slightest bit tired now although I have tried to sleep!! What can I do to get it back to normal? |

I think half the trouble is women tend to lie there and think of all things that have gone wrong or can go wrong, problems, things to do. All sorts of things run through my mind when I should be in the land of nod! You are not alone Diana.... It isn't that late for me only 11.37pm but sleep doesn't come easy.. Jacquie xxxx |

Diana could it be anything to do with your recent trip to China? I sleep about 5 hours per day since I had to give up work 3 years ago, about 4 hrs at night and an hour in afternoons! Dx |

Pink, Are you drinking lots of coffee, tea or cola? The caffeine in any of those could affect your ability to sleep. For years I drank loads of coffee and Diet Coke (never drunk tea) and had trouble sleeping. Once I gave up the cola and confined coffee-drinking to before lunch, I found it much easier to get to sleep at night. Still woke too early in the mornings, though, but that was more to do with noise outside the house. Worth a thought? CB >|< X |

Hi Diana, Sorry to hear you're having trouble sleeping. The only tiime I ever had trouble getting to sleep was when I was suffering from depression. I found relaxation tapes worked very well & now I just use the TV or radio. Really it's anything to stop you thinking about anything thats gone on during the day or anything that is to happen in the future. The main thing is don't worry about it, just sleep when you can & when you can't come on here for a chat. Vivienne |

Thanks people... I managed 5 hours solid last night from midnight so hopefully I will just have to train myself to swtich off!! vivienne... you're not the first to mention it and with all that is happening in my life I wouldn't be too surprised to find out I am depressed in a small way! |

Hello Diana, Like Vivienne, the thing that works best for me is to turn on the TV and turn the sound down low. It doesn't matter what you watch, (I have watched quite a few South American Football matches around 3am) it is something to distract your mind. Sometimes, I just can't seem to turn off my brain and this seems to work for me. Jenny |
