Oh Karen, you're so lucky! I'd love to be down there watching it. Have to make do with the TV coverage. With all those mariners in my family, I'd love to see the ships and what life was like for those aboard them. I'll definitely record it for the family archive. Hope you get a good place to see it on the day - it's bound to be packed out there. CB >|< X |

you should all have a look on the webcam www(.)harboureye(.)co(.)uk there is a link on there for shipping movements and also three new cameras, harbour mouth, the solent and gunwharf. i'm looking forward to Tuesday(esp red arrows) but my daughter has a ballet exam right in the middle of the day so i'm going out early then leaving mum and my other daughter out there and will be straight back after the exam and will stay out for the fireworks in the evening |

Oh Karen, I do so envy you. I would love to be sitting in a harbour watching boats and people and deciding whether to go for a cream tea or wait til later for a real blow out. Enjoy. I just looked on the web cam, it looks very cloudy there! Its brilliant sunshine and boiling here in Norfolk. Hubby has retrieved fans from the loft and is walking around in just his shorts wiping his forehead every few minutes. |

Karen, were you up on the hill last night watching the moon?A lot of people were.It was shining over Langstone Harbour with the lights of Pompey on the right. There's something about those lights that really fills me up. Would think you would go down Sallyport and have a paddle before you go home tonight. |

sharron, one of my memories just after the war (not sure which year it would have been but must have been late 1946 or 1947 ) was being driven up onto Portsdown Hill by my Dad wit my Mum and seeing a 'fairyland'. I can remember the liights now, we had not had street lighting as long as I could remember (I was born 1940) and the lights looked magical. We often, after that used to drive up there to 'look at the lights'. Ann Glos |
