Thank you Sarah & Deanna, The head is a little better now, maybe it had as much to do with the heat as to this foreign body in my mouth. My dentist is a lovely lady Deanna but I have been petrified of the dentist since an awful school dentist in the 50s made some nasty errors! I won't go into details but these days we would have sued for what she did. She was Austrian & we as kids used to think she was a Nazi. Vivienne

Good luck with the plate, I would be like you! I am terrified of having one. What am I talking about..I'm afraid of DENTISTS! I used to have a great one, but he went back to Canada. Deanna

Bless you Dawn, I thought I had been forgotten. My problems are nothing compared to others. Yes, I have the plate fitted & I'm 'gagging' for Britain. Somehow I've got to get used to it cos it's a front tooth but I'm feeling horrible at the mo. I had no problems when the tooth came out, no pain or anything but now I've got a splitting headache. Thank you so much for thinking of me Love Vivienne

Hi Everyone, Thank you so much for your thoughts. I've been home for a while but there's been some sort of problem with the computer. Not Genes this time, I don't know what, just kept being told the programme had performed an illegal operation. I'm ok but things didn't go as planned. One front tooth was veneered many moons ago & it had deteriated badly. I wasn't in pain but it was very loose & biting was uncomfortable so my dentist said it would be better to remove it & fit a plate. It was all supposed to take place today, tooth out, plate in but the lab let us down so I will be walking around with my lips firmly clamped together for a couple of days. The plate should go in on wednesday afternoon. Thanks again for your thoughts Vivienne

Hi Vivienne, By the time you read this, your ordeal will be well and truly over, and I hope it wasn't as bad as you feared. I've had dental problems since the age of 11, including two in-patient ops, but fortunately I've never had a problem with having treatment. I always look upon it that things will be worse for me if I don't have the the treatment, so even if it hurts, I just hang on and bear it. I've always found toothache before dental work far worse than any residual pain later, but we all have different tolerance to pain, so I hope you've not had too much of a problem and will be feeling more comfortable very soon. Best wishes, CB >|< X

Hi Vivienne, My thoughts are with you. As people said to me the other week, it is the anticipation that is the worst part. Once you are there and 'putting a brave face' on for the dentist you will be OK. take care. Ann Glos

I've never asked before but I do need some courage now. I am terrified of the dentist & I have been trying to forget all day that this afternoon I have to have a front tooth removed & a plate fitted. I am shaking but it has to be done. Appointment is at 3:10 so please send me some thoughts Vivienne
