I defrosted my fridge today. Pulled it out to clean underneath it and there was a puddle of dark brown liquid underneath it - it could have been just very dirty water, but I'm not sure where from. When I moved it back, more spilt out! Is this normal? The fridge is working fine and there was a slight leak like this last time I cleaned it, but I just thought I ought to check it's not dangerous! I'd appreciate any advice please! Sal |

Not oily stuff is it? I had a brand new fridge once and that leaked the brown stuff that keeps the system cold - from the tubes at the back of the fridge. They replaced it immediately. |

Heather, it looks oily but doesn't really feel it. Was it expensive to fix? - mine's out of warranty! Sal |

IT MIGHT be the residue from the auto defrost. When the fridge stops cooling, the ice on the evaporator plate melts, and runs into a hole which drains into a tray, which is mounted on the motor unit. this gets hot, and the water dries out. IF the hole gets blocked, then the gunge which collects in the hole will rot( for want of a better word) you May have disturbed some of this.......... on the other hand it might be a leak of refrigerant, which will either be expensive, or fatal (for the fridge) Bob |

Uh-oh, this doesn't sound good. Bob, can't I just shove it back in its corner and ignore it?! Trouble is I'm going on holiday next week - I don't want to come home to a flood! |

If the fridge is actually working, you may be in luck, check to see how cold it is...... |
