Mine too.................... I have to try and find births in Parish registers 1808. Then of course, more work after that. Fun though isn't it? Deanna

I have just thought Bev, do you know where in Ireland? The Parish records were not all burned. If you can try the Library where they were born there may be a genealogy department. I have had a lot of information from the library on my husbands family. Good luck. Deanna

Hi Bev My ancestor was born there 1806 ish and to be honest I just haven't bothered but if you find it's easier than we all think I might have a go :))

I have a love-hate relationship with my seemingly endless branches that come from Ireland. Love them because I rarely spend any time or money on them and thus won't bankrupt myself; hate them because I would actually quite like to research them.

One more question.... If I order the marriage certificate of my gggggrandfather would that give me an indication of where in Ireland he came from? He married in Scotland in 1849! Thanks for your advice...Bev x

Not really, Bev. Though his father's name would be helpful. Joy
