Hi, I am going to Palma in a few weeks. I've been to the more touristy parts but not there. I'm wondering about the cost of living as it is a city rather than the normal cheap and cheerful places I visit!!! Any idea how much an average meal and drinks cost? Hoping its not London prices! Thanks all, Laura xx |

Hi Laura, Like anywhere, if you look carefully you can find some great cheap places in Palma. There are some lovely restaurants - a fave of mine is in a small town called Genova just outside Palma where you can get a good steak for about 15-20 euros. Restaurant name is C'an Pedro. A lot of smaller restaurants do a menu del dia which cost you about 7 euros during the day and 15 at night per person including drinks and two or three courses. Along the harbour is more expensive, but still not London prices!! There is a fantastic Indian restaurant called Baisaki there which has a set menu that changes each day. Again set price and not very expensive (can't remember how much!) Nightclubs in Palma are expensive but the bars are generally pretty cheap. Hope I have helped a little, Natalia xx PS Beware of the rose sellers, some (not all) are pickpockets. |

We went to Palma for a long weekend a few weeks ago. A very interesting city but be prepared for a lot of steps. You need to get a good street map as the alley ways can be quite confusing. We kept finding dead ends. Meals can be quite cheap if you avoid the cahtedral area. We caught the red tourist bus round one day to get our bearings. We also enjoyed a climb up to the castle - good views from the top and a tour round the old palace. Unfortunately the cathedral was closed as they were getting ready for easter. We also caught the train to soller - an old steam train that takes you back in time through the olive groves. Have fun! |

Very reasonable. Plenty of places to eat in Palma, Mallorca. Loads of things to do and see. I didn't really compare prices but am sure it was cheaper than here. len |

Been to Palma airport! It was the summer of 01 - when they had all the strikes of the coach drivers - was hell to get a taxi, took us 4 hours to queue for one!! Anyway we stayed in Cala d'Or - it's really lovely. The beach is small but gorgeous. JUst thought you might want some ideas if you ever go there again. Have a great holiday though. |
