Potato - boiled, medium portion (approx 200g) 2 points medium potato - 1 point....small potato 1/2 point....medium babked potato 2 1/2 points White Bread (per slice) - medium slice 1 point, thick slice 2 points Brown Bread (per slice) - medium slice 1 point, thick slice 2 points Fruit - apple 1/2 point...3 apricots 1/2 point.....banana 1 1/2 points.....cherries (medium portion) 1/2 point....half medium grapefruit 1/2 point......kiwi fruit 1 point.....lemons and limes - 0 points....orange 1/2 point...... Milk ( semi skimmed) - half pint ...2 points Garden Peas - 2 tablespoons is 1 point Pasta - any type - 30g uncooked 1 point...60g uncooked 2 points.....90g uncooked 3 points Bacon (per rasher) - per lean back rasher 1 1/2 points....streaky per rasher 1 1/2 points Eggs - size 1 or 2 is 2 points.....sices 3 to 6 is 1 1/2 points Chicken Breast - skinless, medium 2 1/2 points Pork Chop - medium 4 points Tuna (canned in brine) - small can, 100g 1 point Super Noodles - cant find the points for this at the moment

PASTA COCKTAIL 1 1/2 points per serving 9 points per recipe 105 calories per serving serves 6 75g dried pasta shapes 4 tablespoons low fat mayonnaise 2 tablespoons tomato sauce 2 tablespoons low fat plain yoghurt 2 teaspoons lemon juice dash of tabasco sauce 3 celery sticks, chopped 1 red or yellow pepper, de-seeded and chopped 4 inch piece of cucumber, chopped 1 red apple, cored and chopped few crisp lettuce leaves, shredded salt and pepper lemon wedges to garnish 1. cook pasta in plenty of lightly salted boiling water for 10-12 minutes. darin well and rinse with cold water to cool. 2. in a large bowl, mix the mayonnaise, tomato sauce, yoghurt, lemon juice and tabasco. 3. tip pasta into the sauce and add the celery, pepper, cucumber and apple. season lightly and mix together. 4. line six cocktail glasses or serving dishes with shredded lettuce, then fill with past mixture. garnish with lemon wedges and serve. vary the vegetables according to your personal tastes. radishes, tomatoes, cucumber and red onion make a tasty combination and are all point free additions.

ROOT AND ORANGE SOUP 0 points per serving 1/2 point per recipe 75 calories per serving serves 6 500g carrots, diced 1 small swede, diced 2 red onions, chopped 1 garlic clove, crushed 2 veg stock cubes, dissolved in 1 1/2 litres hot water 1 tablespoon tomato puree 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar finely grated zest and juice of 1 orange 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or chives salt and pepper 1. put carrots, swede, onions and garlic in pan. 2. add in stock, tomato puree and balsamic vinegar. stir well and bring to the boil. reduce hear to low and simmer gently for 15-20 mins, till veg is tender. 3. leave soup chunky or liquidise. stir in orange zest and juice with parsley or chives. 4. serve immediately.

Chicken Breasts with Apple and Cider INGREDIENTS: 1 tbsp olive oil 1 knob of butter 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 2 shallots, finely chopped 3 dessert apples, peeled, cored and sliced 200ml dry cider 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard 75ml double cream salt and freshly ground black pepper rice, pasta or steamed new potatoes to serve PREPARATION: 1. Heat the oil and butter in a large frying pan and fry the chicken breasts about 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Transfer to a plate. (NB: They will not be completely cooked at this stage.) 2. Add a little more oil and butter if necessary and add the shallots and apple slices. Fry over a medium-high heat until they begin to colour and soften, about 5 minutes. Pour in the cider, bring to the boil and simmer for about 3–4 minutes. 3. Return the chicken to the pan and continue to simmer, uncovered, for another 5–7 minutes. Stir in the mustard and double cream and heat through. Check to make sure the chicken is done and season the sauce with salt and pepper if necessary. 4. Serve with rice, pasta or steamed new potatoes. PREP/COOK INFORMATION: Prep time: 15 minutes Cook time: 25 minutes Serves: 4

Oven Fried Chicken Serves 4 4 Chicken Breast Fillets 50g (2oz) Breadcrumbs 1 tsp Parsley ½ tsp Basil ¼ tsp Pepper ¼ tsp Garlic Powder ¼ tsp Paprika Pre-heat the oven to 190°C: 375°F: Gas 5 Combine the breadcrumbs, herbs and seasonings. Place half of the mixture on a sheet of tin foil on a baking tray add the skinned chicken breasts, pressing down. Add the remaining breadcrumb mixture on top of the chicken again pressing down Bake for about 45 minutes

GAMMON IN RAISIN SAUCE 4 points per serving 17 points per recipe 260 calories per serving serves 4 500g smoked gammon steaks low fat cooking spray 1 onion chopped finely 2 tablespoons raisins 8 thin strips of orange peel 300ml dry cider 1 tablespoon cornflour 150 ml fresh orange juice freshly ground black pepper 1. cut each gammon slice into four equal pieces and remove rind and fat. 2. spray large heavy based frying pan with low fat cooking spray and heat for few mins. add gammon pieces searing them on both sides. 3. add onion, rasins, orange peel and cider. heat then cover and simmer for 25-30 minutes. 4. blend cornflour into orange juice. lift gammon from pan and keep warm. stir orange juice mixture into pan and heat till thickened. bubble for a few minutes then season with pepper and serve with the gammon. unsweetened apple juic could be used instead of cider and the points remain the same.

CHICKEN AND BANANA WRAPS 4 points per serving 17 points per recipe 310 calories per serving serves 4 4 medium skinless, boneless chicken breasts 4 small bananas 8 x 98% fat free turkey rashers low fat cooking spray salt and pepper 1. preheat oven to 4/180/350 2. flatten chicken breats with rolling pin till thin. 3. place a peeled banana on top of each flattened chicken breast then roll up. wrap two turkey rashers round each one and secure with cocktail sticks. 4. spray 4 large squares of foil with low fat cooking spray and place a wrapped chicken piece on top of each one. wrpa foil round to make a loose parcel. 5. place on baking tray and cook in oven for 30-40 minutes or till chicken is done. (juices should run clear) another option is ready to eat dried apricots...3 per chicken breast and points per serving would be 3 1/2

CREAMY GARLIC MUSHROOMS 1/2 point per serving 2 1/2 points per recipe 55 calories per serving serves 4 4 large flat mushrooms, wiped 100g low fat soft cheese 2 garlic cloves, crushed or finely chopped 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley 2-3 teaspoons skimmed milk salt and pepper 1. trim the mushrooms stalks, arrange mushrooms stalk side down on large microwaveable plate. micro on high for 3 minutes. 2. preheat grill. 3. put soft cheese into mixing bowl and add garlic, parsley and milk. beat till smooth and creamy. 4. turn mushrooms over and divide the soft cheese mix between them. level off the surface and season. grill till lightly browned and bubbling. serve immediately. alternative to micro - poach mushrooms in a little stock or water in a large frying pan for 4-5 minutes. drain well then follow as above from step 2. afraid book dont say what wattage the microwave oven is..so hopefully you would be able to adapt to rough idea per your wattage

BARBEQUE SPARE RIBS 2 points per serving 7 1/2 points per recipe 130 calories per serving serves 4 450 g pork spare ribs (4 ribs) 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup 2 tablespoons clear honey 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1. trim any fat from the outside of the ribs 2. in a shallow ovenproof dish mix together the tomato ketchup, honey and soy sauce. 3. add the ribs and spoon the marinade over them, covering them well. 4. put dish in fridge and let ribs marinate for at least an hour. 5. preheat oven to 1/140/275 6. bake the ribs uncovered in the oven for 1 hour and turn once during this time. if you want to hot things up you can add 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder to the marinade.. dont serve the marinade that is left after cooking. it contains the fat thas oozed out of the ribs!

SPICY MACARONI CHEESE AND MUSHROOM CRUMBLE 5 points per serving 19 total points per recipe 280 calories per serving serves 4 225g (8oz) quick cook macaroni 125g (4 1/2 oz) button mushrooms, halved 295g can WW from heinz tomato soup pinch of cayenne 2 tomatoes, sliced 25g (1oz) fresh wholemeal breadcrumbs 50g (1 3/4 oz) shape mature cheddar cheese, grated salt and pepper 1. preheat oven to 6/200/400 2. cook macaroni in plenty of boiling salted water for 5 minutes or according to packet instructions. drain well. 3. mis in mushrooms and tomato soup and season with salt, pepper and cayenne. 4. transfer to ovenproof dish top with sliced tomatoes and again season. 5. mis the breadcrumbs with the cheese. sprinkle on top and bake for 20 minutes.
