Mine would have to be a Monet but not sure which one I like so many of them. i think i would prefer one without figures though and probably with water. love any of the water lily ones. a large house near here (Hignam Court) has an open garden once a month. In their large garden they have an old withy pond that they have modelled into a replica of Monet's water lilies. Including the bridge. it is a lovely spot to sit and 'ponder'. Ann Glos

Dee, Is that because he has had a 'bigger press' Do you think? Or is it because of his style of painting? If it is the latter why don't we offer Manet or any of the other impressionists? I do like Manet actually but had to say Monet because i know more about his paintings. The other painting I like by Monet is the Christmassy one, called The Magpie, it is a bird sitting on a gate in the snow. Ann Glos

I dont really want an old masterpiece - beautiful as they are, i would like to own a painting by the Cuban artist Raul Speek, he has a gallery in Solva Pembrokeshire, he paints wonderful landscapes of Cuba and some other pretty sensational stuff,- brilliant artist, brilliant friend, But i own 2 paintings aleady, both of which are equally special to me, the first is a painting of a flower my son Oliver done about 3yrs ago when he was 8yrs old, the other a potrait of me which my brother gave me for my birthday last year, it was the first painting he has done, it captures me brilliantly, i shall treasure them both always kes

It would have to be Van Goph's 'Sunflowers', I have lots of prints of it, would be lovely to have the real thing

I love Paul Gaugain's works from his landscapes to those of the native people of Mauritius. Simple yet detailed, clear and colourful paintings. Sue

Ann I think you are right about Monet having more 'coverage' for want of a better word. His work is depicted on cards, T towels and all kinds of merchandising. Lots of people will have seen his work without necessarily knowing who it was painted by Kes I can quite understand why your paintings are special to you. I have a small oil painting of a welsh waterfall, artist unknown, but it was given to me by an old friend shortly before she died and it will always be special to me. Dee xx

Anything by Alphons Mucha, I have copies but it's not the same. Love everything Jack Vettriano has done. Lowry paintings always fascinated me when I was young and they still do.
