I'm feeling ok you lovely people! Antibiotics haven't done much and as the Dentist just suggested gargling with salt water I've been a bit naughty... and had a bit of Whiskey... Shouldn't have but the pain has gone for the timebeing so I'll be able to sleep tonight :-) love becx |

Glad you're getting some sensible treatment Bec. I went to my (new) dentist a few weeks ago here in the USA. After spending a few minutes insulting British dentistry, he outlined a list of 'necessary' treatment which would cost me several thousands of dollars, including taking out my wisdom teeth 'because they're still there'! I'm in my 50's and apart from a little discomfort when they came through, they have never given me a moment's bother. Where's Paul's screaming thread??!! :-) |

Poor you Bec. I used to rub my gums as the pain was slightly reduced by doing it. Hope you're better soon and meanwhile enjoy the choccie mousse. Daisy |

Heard from Bec a few minutes ago - she's been to the dentists, he's given her two lots of antibiotics and she has an appointment to go back next week to see if she needs it removing. |

I'm still here, appointment is at 5. Have actually managed to open my mouth enough to have a look and the gum at the back has swollen to the size of a mint imperial! Thanks for all your advice and best wishes :-) love becx |

Hope you are ok Bec. My daughter is having one of her wisdom teeth out next week because it has caused her similar problems to yours. Good luck, Maggy |

Mine didnt come through til my mid thirties - bottom one was impacted and agony. The dentist gave me three months to see what would happen and then it would be a hospital job. Joy oh joy, it made its way through somehow! |

The frustrating thing is I've NEVER had any fillings or any problems with my teeth, then this bloomin' wisdom tooth comes along and suddenly I can't eat and can barely talk!!!! I haven't been to the dentist for years but that's mainly because I have my tongue pierced and I know I'll get a lecture! Will take the stud out and hopefully he won't notice <fingers crossed> love becx |

Please see your dentist. I've only had my upper wisdoms through - the lower ones have never materialised! I had to have the upper ones out as (believe it or not) I didn't have enough room for them in my mouth! Jan |

DENTIST NOW!!!! becs seriously babe it sounds infected and I'd get to the dentist immediately as otherwise that infection could spread and you'll lose your teeth!! OK that's worse case scenario but you know what i mean!! |

Anna - if you have a phobia of dentists, perhaps try and remember that even dentists have to see the dentist - and they know what's got to be done, lol. That isn't meant to sound flippant, but I was told that wisdom teeth are a prime breeding ground for infections if not treated. That scared me enough to go and have mine treated! Thankfully, not had any trouble since. x |

Hi Bec, you should do as everyone says and pay a visit to your dentist. I can (vaguely) remember my wisdom teeth coming through and i ended up having to have one taken out cos the pain was so bad i could have bashed my face off a wall and it wouldnt have hurt so much. So do as you're told miss and ring for an appointment. Sheila xx |

Bec Mine were painful. My dentist at the time explained to me that, because of evolution, the modern human jaw was not large enough to accommodate so many teeth and that wisdom teeth, unless the owner had small teeth or a large jaw, were not really required. They had no space to fully emerge. So I had all mine out - and have never missed them. Am aged 81 now and have still got all my other teeth. All the better to bite you with. {:-)») Len |
