I enjoy a few glasses of wine now and then usually just to chill, but don't know what I would do if I became dependant on it. I know a lady who is an alchoholic (dry for over three years now). She beleives that there should be more information about the addictiveness of alcohol and the problems people have getting dry. Apparantly it is more dangerous to come off alcohol than most or all addictive drugs. She was monitored in hospital the whole time she was drying out in case she suffered heart attacks. She saw demons and little 'Chucky ' like people who wanted to be her friend. She can laugh about it now but firmly beleives people should be made aware of the problems of alcohol addiction. I like a drink. It does not make me a better or a worse person. My relationship with alcohol is easy. I was brought up in a home where drinking was partytime stuff, not every day, in fact my Father made poteen in our bathroom...dreadful stuff! If I find I am drinking a little more than normal at times, I dont beat myself up about it. BC

buttercup my father was a publican so grew up in pubs and you see what alcohol does to someones personality after a lot of drink.used to be men that were violent back in those days but slowly women are catching upxxxx):

Lisa, I hasten to add that my Father never drank his own poteen. He kept it for parties, and he was a very mild non-threatening sort of person. So I never saw any bad effects from alcohol while I was growing up. But I can imagine how it might affect one. XX BC

Hi Lisa I very seldom drink alcohol because I don't like the taste, apart from champagne unfortunately, which I can't afford. I still have fun and enjoy myself though. Until 2 weeks ago that is - I have now discovered Todka. It is toffee flavoured vodka, made and sold in Cornwall. I came home with a bottle (most unlike me:)) Chrissie

I do not drink and I never have, I am extrovert enough I shudder to think what I would have been like with a drink.Probably would have been kicked out of pubs for making too much noise laughing, Susan
