Sorry if this has been given as a solution already....I've not read through all the replies...... Adaware only removes the junk generated by spyware/adware programs that have already installed themselves on your PC (usually without your knowledge.) SpywareGuard only protects you from further infestations of spyware/adware programs. In order to stop the pop-ups and to prevent the damage that those programs tend to do, you need to manually uninstall them using your PC's ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM feature. Using a pop-up blocker only 'hides' existing problems. May I suggest you go through your PROGRAMS folder (on your C Drive) and then uninstall any spyware programs you find. If in doubt to what a particular program is DON'T uninstall it until you ask someone who does know.....you don't want to accidentally uninstall a system file that your PC needs to run. Instead of SPYWAREGUARD try Microsoft's Anti-Spyware (Beta) program which is free and works in 'real time' protecting all the time. The program also updates itself and scans automatically once a day. if you talking about all singing all dancing version because of sp2 not all systems will run xp with sp2 installed and that is probably why you have the popup blocker there standard XP ie without sp2 hasnt got the popup blocker in it and which version are you talking about pro or home Paul |
