Natalia If it was anything to do with my manager(Leeds City Council) I wouldn't be able to speak let alone laugh with the elderly people I work with,GLAD I will be finishing with this section of the Council in about 6 weeks.Going to be moving to a job working at a childrens home and the staff are great for having a laugh. The children already call me GRANDMA SUE. As someone has already said 3 cheers for all council staff that have got a great sense of humour and keep laughing even though people complain. Sue

Maybe as condition of getting job council workers have to get zapped by 'sense of humour removal machine'. Obviously some manage to avoid this like your dad for instance.

I think it goes back to years ago when Council workers were seen as geeks and stuffy. It is so not like that any more and Council bosses should be addressing those that cause trouble for us like minded people who enjoy life. I want to enjoy going to work, I spend enough time there, I think it is my right. Three cheers for the Council workers: Hip Hip Hooray!!!!

Natalia

Natalia Report 5 Aug 2005 19:35

No Sue, its not Leeds but Gateshead County Council. My dads boss is great but some of his coworkers are pains in the bum. Still, it takes all sorts doesnt it? Natalia xx

Does your Dad work for Leeds City Council because when i WORKED IN 1 HOUSING OFFICE in Leeds. I worked with 3 other women we had a joke told to us and laughed about the joke. The manager came out of her office and told us all that we had to stop laughing because she could work/think. But when she had a few of the other staff in for coffee one morning they were actually screaming with laughing and the tenants could hear them.(1 of the women went into see her about the noise they were making.) One of the tenants had come to see her and she told us that she wasn't seeing anyone cos she was indisposed. Told the tenant this and he walked straight into her office from the corridor and told her that a complaint would be sent to the Director as she wouldn't see him even though he had an appointment with her. She was reprimanded at Head Office, Her face was a picture. Most of us left within 12 months because power had gone to her head. Moral of this little tale is don't complain about people laughing cos GOD always pays you back. Sue

How petty. I can't believe anyone would be so miserable. My dad is now dead, but he was a funny man and used to be quite a lark on the bus - he was a bus conductor. He said some cheeky things, BUT NO ONE EVER COMPLAINED and even 15 years after his death, people still stop my mum and say how much he made them smile. So good on your dad. We need more laughter and fun in our lives. nell

I am always getting into trouble for laughing to much or being too loud in the office. I get fed up with being told now that I just don't care anymore.
