I have had a few letters published in the guardian and a few columns in nursing standard. Once though when there was a big fuss about our local church wanting to build a new carpark I wrote what I thought was an innofensive letter to our local freesheet saying that although I did not go to the church I was grateful to use its facilities sending my children to their playgroup and their beaver and brownie packs. I was suprised to be woken up at about five in the morning by an angry old lady telling me how her mother had brought up ten children without ever asking any one else to look after them. I also flogged the story of the birth of my twins to 'Mother and baby' for twenty pounds. |

I have here David... It was complaining about the hassle at the docks getting barrels sent from England after the hurricane. I gave them some suggestions to make it easier and less stressful for the people collecting.. It did get published and the docks changed their system to my suggestion. They only did it while so many people were collecting - I believe it has gone back to the old system now..unfortunately!!! Jacquie xxxx |

david, i write a column,in one of those ..freebie..mags,that you get with the sunday papers. the column receives approx 2000 replies per week, and only prints six, most remain unread,as a secretary picks two handfulls, from the mailbag, reads them, and decides which ones are for printing. so you can imagine just how many a controversial journalist might receive, especially now, that it's so easy to email. bryan. |

Oh and BTW, I can vaguely remember seeing copies of Reveille when I was a kid in the Dark Ages, but I remember Jako roller skates even more - with great affection! Great affection - that is until the day (when I was 11) when I fell over face first onto the pavement. Chipped the corner of one of me front Hampsteads. Did narf 'urt! Then my Mum told me off for not being able to find the bit of tooth on the pavement. I think she thought the dentist could glue it back on or something! Strange woman. And my Mum was too! LOL CB >|< |

Not yet but I am thinking about doing so. The charity night I am arranging for cancer research is taking off big time, I aim to raise £5000.00 in one night. I wrote to over 100 companies for raffle prizes and have had a huge response from many companies, Tesco's sent me a £10.00 gift voucher. The money they make and all they can spare is a £10.00 voucher. What a joke. |

Yes, David, and it was published. I wrote in to the Daily Mail a few years ago, after someone else had a letter published about poor service from British Gas somewhere in the North of England. He said he had been told by a BG engineer, who came to service his boiler, that his boiler needed replacing, which would have cost him several hundred pounds for them to install. A few weeks prior to that, we'd had our annual BG boiler service and been given exactly the same story, although our boiler was only 5 years old and functioning perfectly well. The man had said he'd consulted BG about what he'd been told by their engineer and they'd said that this must have been a one-off occurrence, 'the engineer must have been over-zealous' and it wasn't BG's policy to tell people they needed new boilers when they didn't. I wrote in and told of our similar experience and asked if this 'over-zealous' engineer covered the whole country for BG, as we lived in Surrey at the time. CB >|< (That's about as 'interesting' as it gets, David! ;>))) LOL) |

Thanks for making that clear Lynda ;) Rose and Sheila - what did you write about? Carole Malone wrote a big article when Will Young came out, saying how hard it was for all the teenage girls who idolised him and I wrote a stinking email asking if she had considered how nice it was for gay teenagers to have someone to idolise for a change :s |

LOL Sue - I do admire people who believe in a cause but there are limits... Maz? What you trying to say? By the way I've had a word with Deirdre and she recommends not practising your skills on tradesmen or barpersons;) |
