Frank Field has rubbished the CSA.

BrianW Report 8 Sep 2005 09:51

But don't worry, the Government's going to have an enquiry into it.

Guinevere Report 8 Sep 2005 09:54

There'd be no neeed for the CSA at all if absent parents paid child support as they ought to. It's disgraceful that tax-payers' money has to be spent chasing up the feckless individuals who try to dodge their responsibilities. Gwynne

bet it's all the fault of the IT system again isn't it ? (they tend to forget the old adage garbage in, garbage out...)

Guinevere Report 8 Sep 2005 10:51

Mornin' Paul, If the garbage paid up we wouldn't need the IT. Gwynne

Forget the enquiry - just scrap it. It does very little to catch up with the real people who are refusing to pay any maintenance, and instead wastes it's time harrassing those of us who do pay up. Kaye x

Its been a farce from the very begining, Persecuting responsible parents who already paid for their children, because they were easy accesible targets ,,its a pantomine.

scrap the CSA They only are interested in chasing parents who already pay for thir children...making them pay rediculous amounts leaving them struggling Give the responsibility back to the courts and let each case be heard on merit Elaine x

Claire in Lincs Report 8 Sep 2005 18:25

I think your right Elaine,,,,the courts managed it all perfectly well before the CSA reared its ugly head, My husband paid a substantial amount for his daughter from his first marriage on a voluntary basis, The along come the b******* CSA and low and behold....we were left with £30 a month to live on.. We have battled with the CSA and won.

Claire We call those csa years the dark years. We really struggled whilst the ex wife got benifits, a job on the side, and child support. Ex wife mucked the situation around, lied and said we had s daughter less that we really did,,,it bumped the payments up for around eight months until she finally told them what we already had...we had s daughter enough days to claim shared care. We threw a party the day the payments stopped. E x ps hubby was already supporting s daughter before csa

We have been told (by the CSA), that Dave has to pay more due to the dodgers!! He is happy to pay for his kids, but not other peoples kids! Sorry, i sound bitter, but i am.

Harry Report 8 Sep 2005 19:05

A relative of mine was divorced about six months ago and is awaiting a CSA order. He is paying something to his ex, but is saving up as well because he thinks when CSA gets round to it, he will be subject to a retrospective order for the arrears. Surely that can,t be the case - or can it.? I would guess that husbands struggle to pay off the amount the CSA orders and not many will be able to repay what may be a few years back-pay. Happy days

Unknown Report 8 Sep 2005 19:58

Harry The CSA go from the date they recieve the case, at least thats what we had when we asked for the CSA to get involved (now wish we hadnt as its far messier). The arrears (even though we had been paying money to the kids mum), was ALOT.

Claire in Lincs Report 8 Sep 2005 20:06

Strump That reminds of the poll tax situation,,,we all had to pay extra for uncollected poll tax.ie those who wouldnt pay,... So i paid mine minus the 'extra',,,,im not paying for everyone else..

If it wasn't for the CSA taking payments directly from my ex's account at source......he wouldnt pay a penny...so it has benefited me and made the ex pay for his children... J x

ChrisofWessex Report 8 Sep 2005 23:32

Heard today of payments still being deducted for a child who is now in twenties, married and with a child of his own. This was on the news - surely not - this would be farscial to extreme. Ann

I divorced my ex hubby 4 years ago, he was working on the railway earning £450 a week, he wouldnt pay so i went through csa, what a joke, they said he couldnt afford to pay me a penny, he has now remarried and they both work and still nothing, the worst thing is when he was told he didnt have to pay he went to work and was laughing about it kim
