I would have a Glaswegian accent from one side and Irish on the other. I did have a Glasgow accent, but have been away from the area for 35 yrs, so I have lost it :(( My Weans are now Bairns and my don't know is now dinnae Ken lol Marion |

Depends how far I go back. On Dad's paternal side Scottish (1700s) and Canadian (1800s), on his maternal side Worcestershire (1600s) and (Welsh 1890s) and Canadian (1900s). On Mum's paternal side probably Irish (but I haven't proved it yet) but certainly Hampshire/Wiltshire (1700s) then Surrey (mid 1800s) and on her maternal side almost certainly Irish, (although again I haven't quite got there) but definitely West London (early 1800s). Daniel 'main residences' sounds a bit grand. My lot all lived in labourer's cottages! But I could speak with a Norfolk accent (paternal grandfather, who used to say 'Blust, that's a rum 'un!' - translated as 'how very odd') Or a Norf Lundun one, or a Glozzer (Gloucestershire) accent, or I could speak like my maternal grandmother who said 'that's a bit orrrfff' when she was disapproving of someone's behaviour. nell |

Myself and parents were born in Wallsend [geordie land ] so were my grand parents. G.grandparents one lot from Yorkshire one lot from Essex one lot from Scotland and the other from Ireland . So god knows which accent i would have Proberbly gobbledy gooch Cath |

Hi Lemon Nelly No Idea what that means as the grandad died young & didnt leave any clue he was german or where the family came from in Germany. WelL the paper trail was very well hidden & took some working out. Would give him a right telling off in my best Sarf East Shirley |

On my Dad's side the accent that I do have - Brummie! On Mum's side Norfolk, going back one generation to Derbyshire & Cornish. |

On my fathers side of the family Irish, Guernaisse its a French patois that was spoken in Guernsey and years before that Breton My mothers pure Lancastrian and Irish again My husband calls me his English/Irish/ Froggie/Pakistani woman because my grandad was born in India Bren |
