Hi Mike :-) Good to see you back really pleased you enjoyed yourself. I am also Pleased you didn't get stuck in Rosslare in that 2 star Hotel with all the Asylum Seekers :-) The name the 'Dingle' is so famous when people speak of Kerry they always visit there its World renowned for its beautiful beaches and lively entertainment, but now this fruitcake Eamon McGuiv (a relation to a another Nutcase Eamon DeValera) wants to give it its Irish name and get rid of the English version so it would be An Daingean for The Dingle. What is ridiculous is it isn't part of the area known as the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking area) anyway most places have names in Irish and English I am sure the Dingle will be still known everywhere. I did the ring of Kerry and went to lovely Dingle had a brill time with all the Music in Dingle as lots of The musicians spend nearly the whole summer there. Next time Mike I would recomemend The West around Westport area Mayo and Donegal, if you liked Kerry I am sure you will like the West just as much. Pat x

Welcome back Mike, glad to see that you had a good time. One of the best holidays that we had was in Ireland. We stayed at a hotel in Dun Laoghaire for a few days, then traveled to Virginia, Cavan, to visit the town of my ancestors. The people are the most hospitable people that I have ever met. The general feeling is that you have stepped back in time 10 years or so, not just in Virginia but in Ireland as a whole. I can't wait until the next time we visit. Deb

Hi Mike, so glad you enjoyed your holiday - what good memories you will have to think about when it's cold and dark this winter, glad you had some laughs and nice that your mum was 'included' in your trip too, told you she would be with you all the way. Wonder what she thought of you all skinny dipping? lol! Liz

Lynda, Picked up a few books while there but not that one. Must admit have read a lot on Irish history. A lot of talk going on as apparently they want to rename Dingle (I cant remember what too- a gaelic name) but everyone we spoke to was against it. Maybe Pat or someone who lives over there knows more? Dee, Don't know if I could live in some areas they are so remote? I thought we were bad here but they are way the back of beyond? You would have to go to town to shop once a month?? and God help you if you got home and said forgot the milk!!! 2 hr trip back lol xx Definitely would have to have own cows and sheep etc.

Mike- have you ever read 'Twenty years a growing' by Maurice O'sullivan... give it a go - all about the inhabitants of the Blasket Island and also a lot of local history of the Dingle area. We stayed in a B B in Castlegregory and our bedroom (with four poster bed) looked out onto the empty beach and the Atlantic. Lyndax

Hi Mike Good to see you back, and glad you had a good time It is a truly beautiful place, one of the few places I would like to move to. The people are so friendly, as you found out for yourself, and the scenery is breath taking Dee xx

Lynda, When we were doing the Kerry Ring, I don't know where it was, but it was really high and you looked down at the Atlantic... so as you do ... we turned down this track road. At the bottom was a small cove with a beach ---- don't tell anyone -- but we skinny dipped in the Atlantic lol. It was bloomin freezing!! On the way back up this one car road what did we meet 3 cows... I went Mooo ( as you do) it stopped -- walked back and went bellow at the window -- as if to say sod off -- then started to lick the wing mirror spit everywhere! lol I went Shooo it went Moo!! for half an hour! My mate gets out of their car goes -- come along now (or words to that effect) the cow promptly poops/ the wind is blowing/ oops back to Atlantic to wash!

Lynda, I wanted to go to Blasket but we did the trip in Dingle to see the dolphin so it was too late to go to Blasket. I'm definitely a convert to Ireland holidays -- oooh and we adopted a sheep too lol Also went to place which was a famine cottage and you could see what life was like in those days. Lol - just realised I'm boring everyone to death xxxx
