Believe it or not, I used to eat Ready Brek cold when I was a kid, which sort of defeated the object of walking to school with an orange glow around you.

No contest. Porridge it would have to be for me- with a light dusting of Demerera sugar and a 'moat' of semi-skimmed milk. Family like Ready Brek though, but you can't call it porridge. If they choose Oat-So-Simple,they're on their own. I have to leave the kitchen.... The smell is awful.

As a young girl, brought up by my Grandparents, I was always given Porridge for Breakfast. Always smothered with sugar and occasionally with treacle dribbled into fancy shapes... or Jam. Grandad had been a Chef in the Royal Navy... and believe me EVERYthing he cooked ws beautiful ! When I first went to live with my Aunty, I was given Ready Brek ... and fell in love ! I ate bowls and bowls of it and was eventually nick named the Ready Brek kid.! I brought both my kids up on Ready Brek !!. I TRIED Porridge, but I just can not make it like Grandad used to .... so I gave up. Unfortunately, my son can go through a packet of Ready Brek a day ! ... so we now have a variety of different things for breakfast ... and only Ready Brek on special occasions !! Elaine :-)

Hi Zoe, Porridge gets my vote. Yummy with evaporated milk and brown sugar. Jill x

Oh, Ready brek every time - well Tesco's version. It's smooth, quick in the microven, and filling. I used to have syrup on it, but decided to stop that for calories reason. Weekends, I have a change and indulge in some other cereal. Anne

Porridge any day. I love it with syrup on the top. Ready Brek is OK when you have to be quick. Germaine x

CB strangely thats the same reaction I get from my nieces (aged 4 and 6). I love it - have done ever since being served it at guide camp aged 11. Had it with honey then - now I eat it with bananas. Mmmmmmmmmmm

Zoe, A big sarky 'Thank You' for making me feel horribly sick! The thought of eating a plate of steaming gloop makes me heave! Hope you enjoy it. CB >|<

Now I call my morning Ready Brek 'porride' for ease of description but theres quite blatantly a difference. Ready brek tastes awful made with anything but semi-skimmed whereas you can make porridge with anything. Will the trades descriptions come after me if I continue in my evil porridge-defaming ways?
