What is the difference between a Road and a Street

A Road is a way made for travelling between places by horseback, car etc. A Street is a public paved road in a city or town,esp a paved thoroughfare with buildings along the sides. Elaine x.(and a Dictionary !) |

I live in house. Which is in a Lane, to me a Lane should be a quiet place, but nope its the main road to Ashford. |

I think it is all in a name, although I think if I was pushed to find a difference I think that a road goes somewhere whereas a street is simply a collection of houses. :-) Keith |
