If youre having a bet with the on course bookies-ie the ones with a board,standing on a box-wait till the last 2 minutes -they always open up the market too short. If all dogs had the same chance ,they would give you only 7/2 or three and a half to one,so I'd stick to that as your value price-ie have 4/1 if you can get it rather than 3/1. If its romford,I think thats a sharp track,so if youi have a trap 1 or trap 2 that has a fast start they are worth doing. On the form sheet youll see a little number on the left hand side........... Trap 1) Bonzo 3.98 4.03 4.13 3.89 4.21 these figures are next to each dog and if you find one that consistently has a lower number and is on the inside traps,take them seriously...........and remember,best advice.....bitches in form !!!!

Hi Bec, They are several types of bets you can do. 1. Win 2. Place 3. Forecast 4. Trio 1. and 2. are self explanatory. 3. With a forecast you can choose 2 dogs to come in 1st and 2nd so say you chose dogs 5 and 6, 5 would come in 1st then 6 2nd. You can also reverse this but it costs double. 4. Trio you choose 3 dogs, coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd, again you can reverse this bet, so the dogs can come in any order, so long as they are 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If your bet is for say 20p this bet will cost £1.20p. All this will be explained in the programme and you can always ask, but do go up to the window with plenty of time if you need an explanation, otherwise the people behind in the queue can get a bit tetchy with newbies lol. Ive been to Belle Vue in Manchester 100s of times, It is a really good night, just make sure you have a budget for each race say £2 per race because there are usually 12 races. Most tracks have special deals for partys. And if you look in the Sun or Mirror on a Saturday there is usually a free ticket for lots of tracks which admits up to 4 free and you all get a free pint as well Davex

I used to be a betting shop manager if you need any info, if I was you I would go for 6 and 1 each way at 50p a bet, that way you can have a bit of fun without losing a lot of money and 6 and 1 often win ! Julie xxx
