I don't know much about it, to be honest. Obviously the press pick up on the weirder side of it, because of Tom Cruise, but there must be some parts that make a bit more sense! Isn't their official website the one that expects people to buy a book about Scientology, rather than just explaining the basics?

Chris, I'm an atheist but respectful of all religions and beliefs. I just find some of the more extreme, bizarre 'thinkings' slightly worrying. Becx

Bec I think there will always be people who are looking for 'something' to help them at some point in their lives which may make them more vunerable to influence. I had a friend who was going through the divorce from hell...One day she was visited by Jehoves (spelling) Witnesses and, to cut a long story short, became a fanatical member. They gave her 'the' something that she needed at that time. Chris

Chris - Thanks for your input and experience. I just wonder whether those who are not as independent or strong-willed as others might be influenced easily? becx

I live in the same town as the Scientology Headquarters for the UK 'Saint Hill Manor'. A few years ago my, then, 17 year old son went to a few music concerts that the Manor held for young people. Mmm I thought. He then went to another couple of meetings, again for young people, designed to explain the religion to 'outsiders'....At that point I started to worry! He has said that at no time did he feel he was being pressurised to 'join'. In the end he decided it wasn't for him and stopped attending the meetings and I can honestly say no one came 'knocking on the door' to help him change his mind. Chris

Diana - exactly! No screaming in case it traumatises the baby... I didn't think labour was a picnic for mother or child!

Any religion that says a woman CAN NOT SCREAM during childbirth is a sandwich short of a picnic!! I hate it that celebs are promoting it!

A quote I found lol 'Scientology is both immoral and socially obnoxious...It is corrupt, sinister and dangerous. It is corrupt because it is based on lies and deceit' Justice Latey, ruling in the High Court of London
