To the Fair Anne. Hello. ;-)) Have you thought of asking the person, who sold you the electrical components that you bought, if he could help set them up for you??? You never know till you try. :-)) Neil

Neil - nice idea but I haven't bought them now, cos I couldn't clarify exactly what I needed or what would work - and I must add, that I ain't that lucky anyway lol And anyway - most of the 'boys' that work in these places know enough basic info to sell the stuff off the shelf and that's it lol Thanks tho :O) xx

Joan of Arc(hives) Report 23 Oct 2005 14:46

Hi Anne!!! Sorry to hear you're down in the dumps, chuck!! I spoke to OH he says he thinks you would need another freeview box in the bedroom. He also says the sender thingy (tell i'm a techie too lol) will only work with a sat box. So, either subscribe to sky & get a sender thingy or fork out for 2 boxes, orget a tv with a freeview box built in, then put a separate box in the bedroom or vice versa. Hope that's clear (as mud!!) lol :0) Joan xx

Thanks Joan :O) You've answered one question lol I have a Telewest digi box - but didn't want to shell out monthly rental on a second for irregular use - hence the idea of either a freeview box or SAT sender for the bedroom!! xxx

*pricks up ears.....This sender thingy, Joan, does that mean I can get Sky in another tv in other room, apart from the one where the sky box is? if you know what I mean....See Anne, you are not alone!! lol BC

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 23 Oct 2005 14:55

BC I think that's right?!?!? That's what I was tring to ascertain, cos I'm not 100% convinced that my aerial is working properly for a freeview box either :O(

If you have a Panasoni Sky box, it should have two arial outlet sockets. Mine has. You can then run an arial from the secon to another TV. When our house was built it had a Tv socket in the living room with a cable goin to the loft. The arial installers ignore that and make holes in the window frames. I connected an arial extension lead to the LR box and ran a lead from the loft to a TV in the bedroom, although I only used it to watch the news chanels while I was decorating. David

David I have a Telewest digibox - but I am getting info that I can use a SAT sender with it. My aerial has cable running about 18feet or so thru the loft and down the door frame in the bedroom - and somehow I think it has been extended - albeit badly, so that's something else I have to consider!! Thanks :O)

Hi As a none techy I have been looking to do exactly the same set up as you. So far I have worked out the following. To have freeview you have to have a recent ariel on the roof that will recieve digital signals. My old one blew off so I had a new one put up, cost about £40 around here but I bet the price will go up as we get nearer to the deadline for Digital telly taking over. If you put your post code in on the freeview site it will tell you if you can receive freeview in your area yet, also the ariel fitting man should know. OH ran a cable from the NTL Cable TV box up to the bed room which works but you can't change channels in bed. He tried a little gismo the plugs into the back of the telly but it won't work with cable only sky. There is a remote control changer that you can buy but I haven't checked that out properly. In Argos there is a box that lets you watch cable in the bedroom without affecting what is being watched in lounge and is compatible with digital cable (or so it says!) Have a look in the book or on the site for item number 534/3614, £118.99. Hope that helps. If I come across anything else on my quest for telly in bed I will let you know. Mandy :-) PS Argos has various ariel cable extensions etc. I find the book a good source of info even if I end up buying somewhere else!
