No, have lost both short and long versions years ago, have got replacements now. It does make me feel uneasy though that my others went missing - who has got them now? Probably put them in the bin by mistake though. Liz x

Maz (the Royal One) in the East End 9256 Report 28 Oct 2005 19:41

no, can't find it anywhere! I did get it back in the early 80's. I worked just by St Catherine's House, and ordered it in my lunch hour. When I picked it up, they had spelt my name wrong - MariAn instead of MariOn. You can imagine I went ballistic lol!! In the end, they got the original register book sent to St Cath so I could view it with them. The dopey registrar had run the O and N together so it looked like an A. We had a long discussion and they agreed to let me have it with an O on, as that was the name I had been using since birth and the one my parents had chosen!! It gave me quite a turn at the time and now that I have mislaid it, I am scared to order it again in case the same thing happens! Funnily enough, in the index I am quite clearly shown as MariOn!! Yes I have mine. Hubby only has the short version - we found out quite recently that this is because his mum didn't marry his dad until hubby was 9 (he'd been told a fictional anniversary year/date). The short certificate doesn't give the father's name so his parents could keep secret the fact that they'd lied when registering his birth, claiming they were already married. Angela
