Debi Your remarks remind me of the Max Bygraves song: Put away the chip chopper Charlie We're frying the Guvnor tonight He was at the chopper, chopping up chips When he put his foot out and suddenly slipped Right into the boiling hot dripping He tumbled in heels over head So put away the chip chopper Charlie And serve up the gunnor instead. We knew a lady who lived with her husband, teenage son and MIL. She was absolutely terrified of her MIL. When she stopped to help with cups of tea after our evening church service once, we gave her a lift home and when we got to the house, she begged my wife to go with her and explain to 'her' why she was late home. The aged MIL broke her leg and while he was in hospital, the husband arranged a holiday for him and wife and son, for the first time on thier one, but the MIL came home from hospital, and she had to stay with her while husband and son went on the holiday. 'I never did get my holiday', she said. I have been told that before she was married it was the same with her mother. She was such a lovely lady as well. She died before the MIL, so she never was free. David |

Thanks for saying that Ruby, I appreciate you doing it, as you know I am normally fairly light, and didn't want you to think I was hitting at you or anyone else. Just gave an oppurtunity to say, not all women are nice XXXXX |

What a time for this to happen! (not that there is a good time) He was on every show last week promoting his return to Eastenders and saying how wonderful 'life' was...poor Ross. |

That's absolutely fine Lemon, I didn't really have any intentions for the thread, I was actually quite interested in seeing how it would pan out. :-0 |

True Debi, Physical,or, for that matter, verbal abuse is never funny. In the end it's probably more embarrassing for Wade who has apparently taken quite a stand against domestic violence. |

A lot of men suffer violence at he hands of women, sadly not so well known about as the zero tolerance for hitting a woman. It is covered up because it is harder for a man to admit to, because he is then a whimp. Alot of men have the upbringing that it is wrong to hit a woman.....that is right. But if such a man encounters violence from his wife, he has no defence. I personally know someone who was stabbed, burnt , slapped and kicked on a regular basis, by his premenstrual wife, and stayed till she left him for someone else, who subsequently was put through a glass door, shoved downstairs and broke an arm. Neither weak men, but stayed for the kids. I know this thread is light hearted, it is hard to imagine a big butch guy getting skelped. I just wanted to make people aware, domestic violence is not onl something women suffer. Hope you do not mind me adding my view Ruby, I don't wish to make any one uncomfortable, but we wouldn't think it was right if the man was doing the smacking. XXXX |

Yes I have a friend who suffered it! He would never hit her back but she hit him with allsorts, it was so humiliating for him even when he was in company. But he saw sense in the end and got out of his relationship, and is in a loving one now. Davex |

I thought this was going to be a FOOD like subject along the lines of battered sausage and battered mars bars LOL Seriously though I have a BIL who suffered at the hands of his girlfriend.... its a terrible thing because decent blokes have been taught not to hit women........ poor lamb it was torture for him. He walked out on her 2 months before their marriage.a lucky escape ( and she was a small tiny thing and he a big lardy cake) Much happiness Debi |

Apparently the editor of the 'Sun', Rebekah Wade, has been released by the Police, after giving hubby Ross Kemp a smack in the mouth. Ross, sporting a cut lip, has declined to comment. So has the 'Sun' - well that's a first, anyway. |
