I go between the two stitches too. To not get a loose edge you knit into the back of the stitch instead (just on first row) Janice

I used to knit a lot altho never tried cable stitch. I used to crochet too, and I loved sewing - never seem to have time for anything like that now. Went to see an elderly ex neighbour who used always to be knitting - she is 89 and has just learned to crochet bless her, she is making blankets. Had a boyfriend once who could knit. Also taught my son when he was small but don't think he could do it now.

I do, for the special care bay unit at our hosiptal, im not brillinat, but do enjoy it xx

I have fads on knitting used to knit a lot but not as much now. Knit loads for our Joe when he was born have started again now for Abigail. I am OK once I get started. I hate the ribs so boring. Wish I could crochet. Something I have never been able to do. Germaine x

I used to knit all my own jumpers, but don't bother so much now. I graft the shoulders which gives them some 'give', but there are no ugly stiches showing. Don't cast off, leave stitches on the needles. Put the right sides together, put the needle through BOTH firsst stiches, wool through and slip off the stiches together. Repeat, (2 tiches on right needle) then cast off the first stitch on the right needle over the second. Graft the next 2 stictches and keep casting off. Easier and neater Anne

I do but like most everyone else half knitted stuff under stairs, did make my granddaughter a pram quilt and jacket to match when her mum was pregnant and started a sleeveless top only have button holes to for ag 6 months, she is 3 today!!! cast on using needle method hevi

I knit but am lazy. I like the complicated patterns and then throw it down in frustration when I go wrong lol. I hate sewing up though and usually give it to my mum. I have been a good girl though. I got my christmas handicrafts out of the loft that I should have done last year. I will complete them.

i might sound strange but i LOVE knitted cardies ect. There brilliant to sit around in doors in!! havent had one for years...my nan used to knit them for me but she only knits now when there is a baby on the way xxx

They tried teaching me for 3 years at school how to knit - no luck! Every so often I try and teach myself but get so annoyed I end up getting really ratty and throwing the needles and wool to the other side of the room. Hubby has now banned me from ever trying again - he says it's 'too dangerous'. Can crochet though - no problem, apart from no decent patterns around unless you want to make a tea-cosy. I don't even have a teapot!

I've still got my knitting stuff in the attic, plus loads of folders of patterns, but since having the kids and other things besides, I haven't found the time to pick it up again. Used to find it very therapeutic. x

If you like knitting small items you may find a local collector of Teddies for Tragedies. My mum made 157 when she was 90+ and loved to think that they would comfort a small child somewhere. If you Google you can find out about them.

Yes my friend knits beautifully she has made me two shawls for my g.sons in the last two years and loads of cardies for all my g/kids, I can't understand her own daughter wont let her knit for her own g./d preferring Next etc, too much money I suppose I say at least my g/kids have one off designer jumpers etc as she makes up the designs as she knits.
