Sometimes it is hard to join in a thread especially when it is on going. But I think if anyone joins a thread and feels ignored then persevere. Personally if anyone joined in a thread I was on, I may not notice immediatly but will go back and talk to them as soon as I do, but sometimes, people add and run if not noticed immediatly. So just butt in and someone will see you. Often on serious threads I feel overlooked, but don't take it personally...just work at it. XXXXX So if anyone new or old wants to talk Lemon just shout....I will not ignore anyone, but be prepared, I am not the brain of Britain xxx |

I tend to look in on GR probably about once a day, sometimes more, sometimes less. Mostly I feel invisible on this board, but I don't much care. Bev x |

Hiya Pat:) I think we all do that sometimes - I can look at a thread and realise there's an ongoing joke or innuendo related to something that's happened or been discussed off the boards - doesn't mean a thing to me so I leave it alone. I also find that in the wee hours when it tends to be the same people about I feel a bit excluded so if I'm having a not sleeping phase I don't tend to come on very often. But I don't think anyone intends to shut anyone else out - it's all part of bonding with other people. Debi:) I've spent almost all day on here - er - once or twice:) |

Actually Debi there was a thread put up by Lynda Pace not too long ago to encourage those who hadn't posted before it did get a few newbies posting on it, and Lynda & others answered every newbie so they would be welcomed, must try and get another done as it's a good way of breaking the ice for those who haven't joined in and may not know where and when to do so. Not always easy joining some threads, especially more personal ones. Pat x |

LOL Pat ..... it is a lotta time isn't it LOL Its a first for me too , hence the reason I thought I'd find out who was on here often. Also asked because I see the same names online at the same time I have popped in etc and I tend to vary my time here ( work & family commitments etc ) I agree, new members must be encouraged to join in as the boards do from time to time become same old and it is nerve wracking at first to either join in a thread or start one. Much happiness Debi |

LOL That beats me Deborah that's a lot of time. I still enjoy looking in and adding like I am here but there is less to add to these days & so I don't hang around as much as I once did. Even with the cliques which were always here, I just may pop in look & just pop off again, not so hard to do for maybe you and me and many more longer members but I think it must be harder or off putting for new members, i hope that's not why there are so few new members joining the boards, for the General board to stay fresh we need a steady flow of new members or the place will stagnate. Normally I flit in and out see the same names etc help the odd bod here and there, read/start/answer a few threads ....... have done over the last 3 years ...... and I have to agree your all a jolly lovely bunch of people and I know none of you and it's great.......... regardless of clique's I do feel happy to join in where ever when ever who ever lol Much happiness debi |

Jess just to clarify my answer wasn't anything to do with & I wasn't thinking about that type of thread when people are accused of being in or one of the clique it is strange because the ones I was thinking of no one would even suggest it. It's not the serious threads that show this, more than light hearted ones as with argies again during the past few days I noticed it was the lighter threads that caused them!!! I have said in the past & it's been proved again more argies start on lighter threads than serious ones, I stick by that. Pat x |

When I'm not at work I spend far more time on here than I should. Maybe I'm naive but I have no idea who is in these cliques we keep being accused of having on here. I started using the gen board in April this year & yes, at first I felt a bit of an outsider but that would be the same with any club I joined. In the real world people can see your eyes & expression, it is easier to make up your mind about someone. In a cyber community one has to join in gently at first until people get to know you & attending a few meets will speed up the process. I always read what I post very carefully before clicking add message as I know that people sometimes don't read what I say as I mean it & I possibly read somethings that others post not as they mean it. Hi Deborah, Somedays it's minimised where as it used to be always minimised. I normally take a quick look in at some stage in the day but I am mainly an evening/night reader and posterer. I can't really say per day but it can be anything from one hour on a bad day when the cliques take over the place (joke) to a good day a few hours because it' can be better than the TV which I am not keen on. David have to disagree this time, feels strange but quite refreshing at the same time ;-) The cliques are getting even more noticable on here but not always do the cliques start on here, so it makes it even harder to feel a part of something like that, injokes stuff that makes no sense to the outsider reading it the innuendos, very difficult to be part of that. Too long! the 'clique' thinggy- hilarious! i was in some what of a conflict with another member the other night - 3 of us disagreed with the majority of people of so it seemed. The member whose thread it was sent me a PM that said ''of course , you are one of their clique''-Implying that the three of us that disagreed with him were a clique- and yet one of the other two and I disagree more times than we agree usually! If im in a clique its my own Clique! Just me! jess x |

Hi Debs, Like David I have it running when I'm on the PC and look in from time to time. I wouldn't say I'm a member of a clique but I have made some good mates on here and I look out for their postings. But if a thread is interesting to me I'll answer it whoever wrote it. Gwynne |
