Hi Bec, I can't bear Shakespeare, but Lady MacBeth has a certain cachet, so does Cleopatra, but they can't be counted, as they're historical figures, not born of his imagination. CB >|< X

One of my favourites is King Lear, so emotional, one of my fav lines is when Gloucester gets his eyes plucked out and is told to 'go sniff thy way to Dover' Ooh p'raps that sounds a bit sick, - do like Romeo and Juliet as well. Cheers Kaz

Favourite play probably Merchant of Venice - did it for 'O' Level and have seen various versions on stage and film. Good mix of tragedy and humour. I LOVE Iago in Othello - such a vile little man, lol!

My favourite is 'A Midsummer's Night Dream' as I studied it for GCSE and actually played Hermia in a school production of it. I have also studied Othello, King Lear and Richard III but they weren't nearly as engaging and fun. love becx

Beatrice from Much Ado about Nothing because she has plenty of spirit. Miranda from the Tempest because she is delightfully innocent and a bit dizzy I love lost of Shakespeare characters but those are the ones that came to mind straight away. Claire xx

I liked Othello - a black man who made it big in a white society, but not without cost. Angela

I think A Midsummer Night's Dream is my favourite - I love the magical quality of it and the mix of myth & legend. Favourite character is probably Emilia in Othello. Always found her interesting and complex and while quite a minor character, her actions make her a catalyst to all the high drama.

Have fond memories of a school 6th form production many years ago of Romeo and Juliet. We decided that the clashing families would be Mods and Rockers and dressed accordingly. In those days we had to learn huge chunks of Shakespeare by heart anyway,so between us it was fairly easy to remember our lines.
