Jess, You get 11 out of ten in my book. What the H*** do the rest of you want from your children's teachers? With attitudes like this by parents to teachers no wonder our schools are suffering from a DICIPLINE Problem. There are TWO, repeat TWO sides to every story and both sides must be heard before you can give a fair judgement on any situation. Our children, like us, dont always tell all of the truth, only their abridged version of it. All I can say is that I thank God I'm not a teacher with these kind of parents

As far as I understand it Govt policy is that school uniform requirements must be reasonable - can't insist on items that are expensive, standard supermarket/cheap brands should be good enough etc. When it comes to cold weather, outside of school its more important that a child is warm and dry than fits the exact school uniform requirements. I would personally take issue with this with the school and insist on an explanation/justification of its policy. Would the school prefer that he goes sick again through lack of a hat in bad weather? SOrry folks to be the one to contradict all your thoughts but.... When your son joined the school you, as a parent, undertook a contract in that your son will abide by school Rules.Look carefully at what they say before you go in guns blazing. What does it say about school uniform? It is my school policy that if a child is seen either in our out of school in their school uniform then it MUST be worn IN FULL. Yes, If you take your child into sainburys after school and they are in their School Blazer they MUST also wear their school cap/Beret.No coat over the top either unless the official school one. Its about representing your school in public and doing so with pride. As for picking him up in her car - NOT ALLOWED - that would be a jobworth Sorry - do check Jess x

She needs reporting, outside school she hasn't the right to make him remove his hat. Schools can impose rules inside the school gates, but there is very little they can do off school premises and out of school hours. They are quick enough to tell you that if the child gets bullied outside school. June xx

I would phone the school head in the morning and complain. Don't worry how big she is, the bigger they are the harder thay fall. It is amazing how hard some teachers can be when dealing with the kids but when a mum is defending her son Oh dear watch out. If she was so worried about his hat why didn't she give him a lift home. Been there done that. Germaine x

Oh Yes! I went in to see them in person and got an apology. I wouldnt mind but my daughter is one of the more intelligent kids in the school, and has had commendations for her work which are not given out very often and has now been told at the age of fourteen that she has the ability to go to university and do really well, one university is monitoring her work as a case study and will be following her work in the future as she does so well. If it was me I would be up at the school first thing in the morning giving her a piece of my mind no matter how many times bigger than me we was! its not like she can do anything to you anyway! They make me sick with some of their school policies, they would be the first to complain if he had too much time off due to him getting flu again wouldnt they. My daughter got pushed down a flight of stairs and broke her foot at school and couldnt go to school for five weeks due to not being in plaster, I spent nearly everyday phoning them asking for work to be sent home for her so she didnt fall behind, but none ever came, then when she went back to school I got a letter off them pointing out about the amount of time she had had off and how it was cause for concern and how she had to now catch up with her work!

Elizabeth.............. 'Jobsworth' is the word that comes to mind for her! 'Power' just goes to some peoples heads - and I bet she's got no children of her own !!! So - when he's off sick again with a relapse - you can send a note to the school telling them exactly why can't you ??? lol

My son aged 17 was also told off for wearing a hoodie and bobble hat for a two mile walk home from school. He was told it looked unprofessional. He just wanted to get home for his tea not attack old ladies.

My lad has just gotten over the flu and was at school today. He has just walked home in that weather and his teacher came past him in her car.She stopped the car and ordered him to get the plain black bobby hat of his head as it wasn't school uniform.OOHHHH.....if she wasn't ten times the size of me I know what I'd do.....stupid bloody school and their policies. They did nothing last year when someone stole his brand new, plain black, thick enough hooded peter storm coat.OH someone restrain me please........ one livid mother.
