sorry Jill - I wandered off lol!! Charlotte read the books when she was 8 - I read them I think when I was 10. They are lovely for that age group! Sneaky hint though .... Smiths have the box set for 30 odd quid - I got them from the Book People for £7 !!! (Really sorry, have just had a look at their site and they are out of stock - might be worth ringing them to find out when more are coming in though.) Amazon has it for £21. Maz. XX |

The Narnia books would be fine for her Jill. Will you be taking her to see the film?? In that case she will be keen to read the books!!! Try 'Seahorses' by Louise Cooper too, the are lovely books, not too long either just perfect for 8 year olds! :0) Joan xxx |

Jill - Narnia books would be good, I agree. Also, perhaps a Treasury of Alice in Wonderland? or a children's poetry book? :-) Joy |

Thanks for everyones comments....given me loads to think of now.... maz - I wondered about the narnia book set for Lou, but a friend thought they would be too old for her...I've already got her some books....the Little House on The Prairie Books and some by Jean Ure who she loves.... She will be 9 in Januray. What age group are the Narnia aimed at do you know? |

I could buy hundreds of things for my girl - it's the boy I have trouble with! My girl is 9, she loves anything arty and really wanted a Mandala Designer, which I have got her. On her list she has put things like coloured card, highlighters etc. She had a calligraphy set last year which she still uses. She is also into Bratz so loads of that stuff too! She also likes reading - Narnia books, Famous 5, Jacqueline Wilson. Could buy the whole of Claire's Accessories too! She is just getting into clothes and is growing so fast that she always needs something new. Jigsaws are great too - not too hard, but its something you can do together. Maz. XX |
