Paul I think to be fair threads/posts that can cause offence get more attention because they get peoples blood up a bit:) Most of us are more likely to post if we think someone needs putting right lol. That's a good thing isn't it? Much better than people running off to GR complaining about a thread or sending private messages off to all their friends bitching about it in my opinion. If I read something that irritates me I'll usually say so and I'd much prefer to know if something I'd said had pissed someone off - we all know where we stand then. |

Paul I added to your thread because even though I found it amusing, It was also offensive to other peoples religious beliefs and did not belong on a public forum ! A while back I made a comment and was slated unmercifully on a thread I posted on, accused of mocking religion (when in fact I was NOT). Seeing as your poem WAS mocking religion, it surprises me that you were not slated the same way. As mentioned earlier, It all depends WHO has posted, not whats been posted.. You say YOU removed the thread Paul, so the blame of the threads demise cannot be blamed on people running to Genes.(for those who have insinuated this in their posts.) I agree with Top Cat, the title alone showed that you knew the content was offensive to some, and you fully expected (along with others) for you to get into trouble with genes !! I fully expected for (in the event of the threads removal either by yourself or genes) you to post another thread bemoaning about the loss of the original thread. I was not surprised nor shocked that this thread appeared. As I said on the other thread. I wonder how many of the people who were happy to see the poem on the board, would be so happy if I reversed the text to make Christianity be the religion mocked. I'm sure I would be shot down in flames, making the biggest smoke cloud since the oil refinery Elaine x PS I never complained to Genes, I said my piece on the original thread |

Once again I agree with you Elaine (and that's two things we agree on I think, if the score is correct? - lol) I thought the thread would appear offensive to some members and did not understand why it had been posted. That was why I queried the wisdom of the original posting. I am now advised that it was 'satirical'. If that was the case then why wasnt it posted as such? I did not report the thread (as it did not offend me personally) nor would I have, but I still wonder why it was posted at all, if not to cause offence. And I also wonder if it was deleted as the originator thought better of it (rather than saying it had run its length) I do hope so. I also wonder why this thread was posted. conscience maybe? I wonder a lot ,I do! Jacqui |

Well I agree with Bendy Wendy it depends who posts it, some can get away with it others cant , I was slated the other week for saying TI*TS on a thread,. But one of the people who slated me I can remember them calling somebody a TW*T on a thread and that was ok? So its one law for one and another for the rest of us. Davex |

TOTALLY agree regarding it's WHO posts the threads not WHAT they post sometimes. I got reported to abuse for having 'bleedin'' in a thread title! Pathetic! *reports self to abuse* xx |

I agree with everything Elaine has just said about that thread. I added to it myself yesterday & said I wasn't offended at all none of the religious stuff effects me but I thought it would or could be offensive to others & I had wondered why some religious people on this board did not add if they were offended, or is it double standards? I also commented people are treated differently depending on who is posting. As Elaine says there are people who can get away with things on here others can't & they get a very bad time. I did not report it & would not have done so I said my piece on the thread as I am doing now. Like Jacqui I wonder why it was posted if not to cause a stir. I was very surprised and disappointed at the remarks on another part of the thread, which actually did offend me. Pat x |
