It seems to me, as I've just proven.....

........That it's the people that claim to be the most offended by them that keep the things running.. If I don't like the content of a thread I leave it and move on to the ones like.... I'm now removing the other thread but not because people were offended by it, just because it's ran it's course...if more people did that the site would probably run faster.. Merry F***in' Xmas!! (before you start, that could be 'flippin') Paul

Paul I would just like to say that I read the poem and felt no need to comment on it ( meaning I have sung worse whilst in the Forces ) But would you not agree that if somebody who was a newer member and not as popular and well known as yourself might have got a different response from other members ?????. Keep posting Paul the board needs decent topics :-)))))))))))))))))

Paul you made us laugh with that thread wondering how long it would last well done you are quite right about some people if they came straight out and told you that it offended them i think you would have more respect for them some one once asked me to delete a thread as it upset them and the reason why \\i had no trouble deleteing it and respected them for telling me Howard

Agree with you Suzy I love them too. If the person who complained doesn't like the jokes then they should stay off that thread.

Guinevere

Guinevere Report 13 Dec 2005 16:31

Until GR make the boards members only then people are going to complain as the jokes etc can be read by children. Gwynne

Paul Report 13 Dec 2005 16:32

Well it works both ways really, doesn't it? Fair enough, don't reply to them, but first, don't write them! When you know a thread it going to cause offence, don't put it.

Problem is what one person finds offensive another won't

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 13 Dec 2005 16:39

We have seen how many people (millions?) have signed up to GR. among that many are bound to be easily offended, narrow minded killjoys. they are not necessaruly paid members but can read the threads and complain, until they make it members only as Gwynne says, we are going to get this. They wont make it members only because it is the way they get people to join. And make money, it is a business, run for their benefit, not ours!! Ann Glos

Paul Report 13 Dec 2005 16:40

OK, when a person titles the thread 'May cause offence', or writes a poem about f****** christmas, calling religions stupid, I think they realise it will cause offence!!

People don't have to read every thread that's posted though. This is still a democracy.............................or has it changed when I wasn't looking.

Paul

Paul Report 13 Dec 2005 16:50

Thats a good point too Wendy. I've found that if a newer member will post something, anyone will jump on their back. But if an established member will post smething, people can be a bit more cautious.

oh darn I missed something. Some valid points made by all but in my opinion if you don't agree with an opinion or are offended by a thread don't go in or just leave quietly. On very few occasions I have entered an thread (mostly about someone's opinion) that I don't necessarily agree with and I just chose not to comment and go back out. Everyones entitled to their opinion. Have to respect that. As for a joke even a little off colour. Laughter makes the world such a happy place and I love to laugh. If it's a little to offensive a joke then again just back out. Can't be bothered reporting anyone, don't like to make enemies and might miss something. Don't let it get you Paul just keep on with those postings. Many of us enjoy them. Deb xxx
