Paul and C.B......I think the experts are on their way, it just taking a bit of time to get there, as CB quite rightly said, we don't normally have Whales up the Thames, so there's no need to have any experts 'locally'........Lilly |

They keep saying its weak, and there is no food readily available in the river. So bloody feed it! They keep saying it might not eat anyway if it's ill, but why don't they try?? |

Mandy, Yes, the Thames is tidal, but I've just heard the whale's at Putney Bridge, which is several miles upriver. I've just posted on the other whale thread. It's obviously very traumatised and disorientated or it's deliberately trying to kill itself. Paul, The River Thames doesn't have whales in it normally, so it's unsurprising that there aren't whale experts on hand to deal with it. Whales are a rarity in the coastal waters of South-Eastern England, so there are probably not too many people about anyway with sufficient knowledge of what to do in a situation such as this. Hi Paul, I have just came in from work and see this on the News, Poor Whale, from what I can understand they are waiting to see what happens, they don't what to distress it anymore, they are hoping that it can be guided back to the Thames estuary, some 40 miles away, which will be a long hard swim for it, problem is at the moment, it is in such shallow water, lets just hope it doesn't 'beach' itself again....but I don't thing the poor 'little' thing has much chance, lets hope I'm wrong.......Lilly |

I agree there does not appear to be any experts at the Thames, lots on the phone taking about what should be done, but nothing being done |
