I too have heard of Fanny Fannackerpan. Over the years, I have been skinny Lizzie, Passionflower (don't ask) Flossie, Kitten, Bebe (when my little brother couldn't say my name),Liza, Leeza, Lilibet, and probably more that I can't recall or didn't know about. Always knew if I was in trouble at home, my full name would be enunciated very carefully : Elizabeth. |

Thank you for the responses regarding Fanny. I had forgotten an amusing tale from my childhood - before I began school my parents called me Fifi on occasion and I had a friend, Louise, known as Lou-Lou. When we were about 4 my mother took us to the beach for the afternoon. At home time, she called out, 'Fifi, Lou-Lou, time to go!' An elderly man fell about laughing and explained to my mother that he expected two toy french poodles to come running up, not two little girls. :-) As for what my little brothers and sister tried to make out of Felicity - how's about Fitty, Fisty and Fatility!! Fortunately their little tongues got the hang of things eventually and none of those versions stuck. |

For half a century my hub has called me tub. I could never be called twiggy. If talking to other people he refers to me as the old crow because the Huia was a member of the wattled crow family. My dad always called me wee one to the day he died, even though I was the biggest of 4, and I dont just mean in height. |
